I have a guitar, Higgins Custom Shop I think it's called. Apparently the story is Merle Haggard's guitar tech would build guitars for people, likely just using parts he could source and paint/assemble them. It's a basic Strat body that he massaged a Gotoh Floyd into, painted it a nice sparkly gold, put some nice DiMarzios in it, but kind of a cheap neck. My luthier friend that helped me work on it says it's probably just a Chinese neck out of the parts bin and we've worked on the frets, the ends, etc and it just doesn't feel top quality and the frets don't look like they have a lot left.
I'm in the market if someone has a nice one with a Floyd nut shelf. 22 fret, Strat headstock, and would love something besides plain ol maple. I don't want a rosewood board, would prefer figured maple. As far as the neck wood, I'd like figured maple, roasted maple, or maybe something exotic like wenge or some other richly colored wood. PM me if you have something along the lines of what I'm looking for.
