I think it's simply because they can't be found new anymore.

I sent the owner of VFE a message on Reverb. According to him, he will re-release a, "handful" of the Standout pedals after summer.
 
Wow, checking Reverb sold listings they used to go for as little as $99, but the most recent sales (a day ago) was $295.

I didn’t know it was such a great investment...Soldano status here we come !!! ;) :yes:

Looks like Henning bought out all the boards that were made available and is doing runs of clones for $225 each...

Compared to the Fortin pedals, that price seems about right.

It’s a lot of work building each pedal.

I believe VFE was using student labor to keep the cost low? Kids learning electronics and real skills. Heck, I wish I had it as a kid.
