Xotic pedals on your board?

Hey guys,

Do any of you use some sort of riser to raise up your xotic pedals? I have a BB and am thinking of buying an AC but they are so small and shallow it is hard to accuratetly hit my BB which sits on my board behind my midi controller. I ordered a used SKB SP-55 pedalboard which has a slope or ramp to it but the xotics sit so low it makes it tough. I asked in this forum because I know there is lots of Xotic love with the Eggie guys.

   Is there any other way? Some people call 'em roach killers (or cow manure relocation devices), but how else can one get around on a pedalboard without hitting anything else?

Won't help if you midi board sits much higher than your back pedals. I think I am selling my Xotics to get something I can actual hit at a gig.

You can get a piece of 1x4 or 2x4 and cover it in velcro. All of this can be acquired at lowe's home depot, or whatever hardware store you like. I've done this to make risers for other pedals before. It works like a charm. You can even get the folks at the store to cut the wood to size for you for free most of the time.

Good luck.

Right now, i'm using a Pedaltrain 2, which is angled, so that I don't have that problem anymore.

But I used to use "riser" pads all the time. Just take a piece of wood. spray paint it back. Hook velcro on one side, loop on the other, and stick it inbetween your board and the pedal. Works great, and costs next to nothing!

Rich, if you like the tone, don't sell the pedal because of such a small thing bro! There's ways around it!!!

Yeah I use a angled pedalboard too...and I have size 15 feet! If I can hit the pedals...well damn it...everyone can! hahahah :)

I agree w/ Nick here...the piece of wood idea does the trick.

True, I was looking at my board and thinking about risers.

I don't play big gigs like you guys so I may not go crazy with a Voodoo Labs system but I was thinking of upgrading mjy Fruman board to the SKB SP-55. The SKB is angled and has channels to run the cables below the surface which I like! I may still need the risers there too because the midi pedal is fairly tall.

One big feature I love with my Furman is the carrying bag! I can throw all my cables in this bag and not require an aditional bag. I don't believe the SKB SP-55 has this although it has a hard case, just no pouch for cables.

I serious and useful suggestion. Way better than mine. I have a Pedal train board too, great unit. I still like to smack 'em with my boots though. :D

Guys, if I am happy with my Furman pedalboard, any reason why I should consider the SKB Stage 5 board? It is angled and you can run the wires/cables under the board since it has slots. Other than that I am happy. I only have a wah, tuner, two Xotic pedals, an ISP and the midi-mate. Only six pedals and I could put the Xotic pedals up on risers for now. I try to think in terms of bang for the buck thesee days rather than waste money.

Cut a small piece of plywood the size of the Xotic by tracing it. Then paint it black. Then stick velcro on it. It's a 1/2 inch taller.

Yes, seems crazy for me to buy another pedalboard just to have it angled and the fact that I could hide my cables by running them under the board. That might be worth it though.
