Are the headshells for the XTC 101B and the XTC 20th anniversary the same size?

Yes the 20th shell is bigger however the chassis' fit into each other boxes. The 20th box is larger but its all wasted space and additional weight, the chassis' are the same size. I currently have my EL34 20th anic XTC in a std 101B metal grill headshell so I can gig with it and not damage in any way my pristine 20th plexi style headshell.

Can you please post a pic of your 20th in the Metal Grill head shell???

I want to do this so I'm very eager to see what it looks like before I buy another head shell.

Cheers

Interesting. Going off what Charlie said I didnt think the chasis' were the same size. I'd like to see some pics. I too wish they made the 20th xtc with the metal grill.

Exactly same chassis, completely interchangable (as I have done) Looks no different than a 101B except gold front panel instead of black and black knobs instead of white. Sorry, not able to get a photo loaded, if you PM me your email I'll send you a photo off of my I-phone, but it really is a no brainer, basically same amp with minor component changes. I could put my 101B in my 20th headshell if I wanted. To be honest I prefer the black front panel with the white knobs of the 101B myself but the 20th does sound better

I sent you an email and PM with my email and still no photo ????????????

The 20th headshell is bigger, however the chasis is the same size. You can put the 20th chasis in an older XTC type headhsell.

I'd like to say a warm thanks to RG955TT for sending me a photo of his 20th in a Metal Grille Head Shell.

Much appreciated for your effort.

Cheers!

You're welcome Man w/Gas...see i told ya, looks pretty nice yes? The 20th headshell I have is the plexi look, really sharp but damn that thing adds to the weight and bulkiness of moving around considerably. Headshell alone has to weigh 15 lbs.
Good luck!

Just confirming that I got a metal grille (original size) Bogner XTC headshell and my 20th XTC chassis fit in perfectly.

Both headshells (original/20th Ann.) are interchangeable for those who are interested.

If you have a headshell with the tan grille cloth front, can you swap out the metal grille insert, or do you need to buy a head with the metal grill already attached? I've heard conflicting views on this.

Just buy the grille and it fits. (this is for the original size headshell and NOT the 20th XTC Ann. headshell)
