I'm always amazed when people get good tones out of a PC mic. You did real well considering what you were working with. 
Laney amps are real badass and have an awesome tone. However, they're not very versatile compared to some other amps. They take boosts like a champ though.

Thanks, yeah I think the Laney does what it does really well, but you can forget getting different sounds on the fly. However, its character does change with the guitar (like all amps). With the tele I use a Bad Monkey as a boost as opposed to the built in drive channel, and turn the highs a bit down on the BM, otherwise it's far too ice picky and fuzzy. With the basswood Ibanez however, great metal tones can be had with the drive channel.
