Yet another M4 question: what MIDI controller?

Looking over several different MIDI foot controllers today; I'd like something that I can toggle among any of the 8 channels in my M4.
Looked at the Tech21 MIDI Moose and the Roland FC-300 - any others that anyone can suggest?

Thanks,
Buck

Are you looking to control any multi-effects units as well, or just channel switching on the M4?

MAKE SURE THE PEDAL WILL OPERATE ON 1000mA or less if you plan on using phantom power.

It works great with my ADA MC-1. It DID NOT work with ADA MPC which needs 1.4 amps of current.

I'm looking at JUST switching for the M4; if the E2 ever appears, I'd like something that would switch that too.
Might go with the Voodoo Lab.

The Rocktron MIDIMate is a good one to check out... I've owned a couple of 'em over the years... pretty durable, relatively easy to program, and pretty high on the buttons-to-dollars ratio.

The Voodoo Lab commander worked fine with the M4, including power.

If you will need/want to have ability to have instant access to all 8 channels the best match is the Voodoo Ground Control Pro. The Rocktron Midi Mate works too, but isn't as easy to use as it doesn't have 8 available IA switches in patch mode. Of course, you can always get a smaller controller and just switch patches to change channels. I use the GC Pro set up for 4 patches/8 instant access buttons(4 controlling loops for pedals and 4 CC controls for FX in the Gmaj2) per bank and it works perfect for me that way. Just depends on what you are wanting to do.

The Rocktron MIDIMate arrived last night; plugged it in to the M4 with a 7-pin cable and it powered on immediately with the M4.
Right off the bat, all six channels (only had three modules loaded last night) were assigned to six footswitches. I reassigned each one to the channels that I wanted and works like a charm.
For grins, I changed the title on each bank to match the channel (DLX CH B, etc).

Dead easy to use (and lowest cost) and I have access to all eight channels of the M4.

I know you already got one, but the liquid foot jr should also work. It's more pricey though and has more options that you may need. I like the fact that it's two rows of 4, rather than a long board.

It's expensive, but sometimes you just gotta say what the heck:

As of a few months ago, these were only available to professional touring/recording artists - I guess they couldn't make enough of these fast enougfh for the general public. That is supposed to change this year sometime though (and maybe it already has?).

Already has :) My Lead Guitar player at my home church has one in front of his Axe-FX

+1. Easy to program, reliable, affordable.
