Who are your current top 5 favorite guitarist ? Here are mine:

Eddie Van Halen
Alex Lifeson
John petrucci
Guthrie Govan
Jimi Hendrix

There are some guitar players like Vai are great, but his latest just puts me to sleep. Hendrix, I find to appreciate more and more. I am starting to feel the same way about Beck. Lifeson very refreshing. Petrucci always pushing the limits.
Guthrie is just plain terrifying.

I'm pretty sure Buckethead is Brian Carroll, a Gilbert student. But if you mean they're both crazy, creative, frustrating to try to learn, then yes, same dude.

Honorable Mention for Tony MacAlpine...the dude is really an amazing musician, and not only can he shred with the best of them, but really has some stellar and melodic phrasing...reminds me of Schon when he slows down.
