It's 2008 model.

What pedals to stay away from?
What pedals to consider?

My VH4S is a 2000. That may be worth mentioning.

I have a Gordius LG-X that was just upgraded to the LG2-X (Big Little Giant version 2). I haven't gotten it back yet from the upgrade, but the pedal was already incredibly flexible.

Honestly, I don't use many features on it besides pretty basic PC and CC. I have 6 presets controlling my VH4S and the other 7 for my Voiceworks Plus. The layout was a big part of what drew me to it (not a gird like so many others). It just made more sense for my needs. When I get my hands on an Axe-Fx Ultra, the Gordius will also control that. And with the upgrade it will display the tuner and support phantom power.

There are 3 pedals (well, 2 pedals and the module). The module is an addon for another controller (specifically the FCB1010), the Little Giant, and the Big Little Giant.

It's expensive (like most good MIDI controllers), but definitely worth a look.

Good luck with your search!

Grab a Tech 21 MIDI Mouse if all you need is to control a few amp functions. Works great and very little pedalboard real estate taken up. The amp will not phantom power it though.

I have been using a Rolls Midi Buddy for a few years now. It is pretty cheap, I did not expect it to last as long as it has.

I use a Lexicon MPX-R1 and it works just fine.
FWIW - you don't really need a lot of flexibility on a pedal because the VH-4 handles MIDI so well.

All you really need to do is set up your channels, send it a random program change number, and hit Store.

Done.

I want it powered from the amp.
It's gonna be used with the timefactor at the same time too. This is gonna be delay heavy projects, so it's gonna make more changes on the timefactor than the amp.

As I understand I can use different banks for different songs? Please confirm. How many banks are there?
I don't think I need more than 5-6 switchers per song, but 8 would be nice to be on the safe side.

If you're asking about the Gordius, Xavier posted about the upgrades on the Fractal Forum. http://www.fractalaudio.com/forum/viewt ... =14&t=9811

According to page 5 of the Next Gen Addendum (found here: http://www.gordius.be/midi-footcontroller-downloads.php ) these numbers apply to the 1st generation:
10 setlists
250 songs
250 banks
186 regular patch presets
32 stompbox presets
32 momentary effects presets
16 expression pedal setups

Already that's a ton of options. I'm digging through my emails from the Yahoo group and can't find the new specs. I could swear Xavier already mentioned them. Here's the paragraph following the above specs regarding the new capabilities:
"Especially the maximum number of stompboxes is currently felt as a limitation. This leaded to the introduction of several powerful ways to make your setup more dynamic (automatically change the content of the stompboxes, depending on the currently selected preset). But being able to create a setup without the need to take into account this limit of 32 stompboxes will definitely help in simplifying things. The final spec is not yet defined, but the maximum number of setup items (of any type) in the new setup structure will probably be something like 1000 (in other words, any practical restriction will be removed)."

RJM Mastermind. Call Ron Minelli and tell him what you want.

I've been using the Tech 21 Midi Moose with my VH4 for a couple of years now and it works fine, 5 in a row, and up and down for up to 128 programs, its phantom powered from the amp with just a normal 5 pin MIDI Lead, hope this helps :)

I am a simpleton. I just use the old style small DMC Ground Control. All I need :)

I went with the Columbus - bomber.

Unfortunately there are more important places to spend the $$$ right now, otherwise it would be my first choice.
