when Joe says that they all have to yield to Kevin Shirley at the 2 minute point of the video?

I've discussed this extensively in the past. I absolutely hate that his picture in in everything that Joe does. They call him a member of the band. He's in their interviews. I've even seen him on stage directing Joes bands. What a joke.
Everything is starting to sound the same. I don't like the guitar tones anymore.
Joe needs to seriously move on. After the last solo album, I'm done buying solo Joe stuff. Everything is dull and sounds the same.
Yes it seriously bothers me.
And, by the way, Joes stuff has never been right to me since Kevin Shirley made Joe get rid of Eric Czar.

I agree with everything you stated. It bothers me that I got into him right before he ditched Eric Czar and started hanging around with Shirley. My favorite era was Blues Deluxe and Had To Cry Today. Joe still brings it live, but there's so little variety tone-wise...

The Live at rockpalast is just ridiculous.
A great era alright. Anyone know what he was playing through that night?
Czar is a whopper player alright. Bit mental in that show but thats all good too, right?!

I'm pretty sure he was using Budda amps. He played Strats, Teles, Les Pauls, and Danelectros, and they all sounded HUGE with a smorgasbord of tone! Joe needs to sell one of his '59 Les Pauls, build his own studio, fire Kevin Shirley, and do his own thing. He has a big enough following where he can do whatever he wants.

It would not surprise me in the least... The timeline matches up all too perfectly.

Dude, Eric Czar is as cool as they come, I met him at one of Joes Gigs years ago and Ive been in touch with him ever since. Hes actually going to be playing on this project that I spoke to him about if I can ever get my ass to write the material for it.. He lives all of 10min away from me...

Hands down, hes my favorite bassist of all time...

Gainzilla - the fact you have Gary as you're Avatar has already sold you one copy of your record=)
Get to it man.... Dying to hear the tracks GAry was working on before he died.. Back to the celtic rock vibe if all is to be believed..
Yee ha.

I'd read an interview where Joe himself said he talked to Kevin after a gig and he had said to Joe something like, I can take you to the next level if you trust me with everything. We need to get more pro level players for you. What a joke. The bass has been boring ever since.

I personally think that Eric was TOO good and took a little of the spotlight away from Joe. Kevin couldn't have that. I have to admit that I saw Joe a couple times with Eric and I spent more than half of the show watching Eric. He dominated, but never at the expense of the band or music. He was just GREAT.

Kevin has helped make Joe a big star I guess. I believe Joe was so great that he was headed in that direction anyway.

The Rockpalast show was a Budda head and Bluesbreaker combo. KILLER tone. Better for me than the tone he has now with all the expensive amps. :aww:

BTW. I just read somewhere that Glenn butted heads with Kevin constantly on the first two BBC albums. I imagine so. Can you imagine someone telling GLENN HUGHES what to do? Silly.

FYI. I have had BAD experiences with producers trying to replace players in my bands for recordings just so they could get their out of work session musician friends gigs. The players even told me as much. I get that they are trying to employ their friends, but.......

I'm with you guys... why the fuck is the bad guy from Kindergarten Cop doing telling Joe Bonamassa what to do?

Unbelievable... He's not even fit to polish Glenn's Bass.

I read somewhere that Kevin even told Joe how he should dress...no joke.

I don't know anything about this Kevin Shirley stuff but I love what he did for the Black Crowes on By Your Side. I've always thought JB had a very milquetoast guitar tone. There's no edge to BBC, it's so smooth. Doesn't rock for me at all. Dig the hell out of Glenn's vocals on the live vid's though. To me Bonham is the odd man out. His drumming is incredibly uninspiring.

I could imagine there's some merit to what JB said about there needs to be someone who can give the final yes or know and they stick to it. The amount of talent in the band, they might never finish anything without a leader

I wish I liked them. I would love to have a band "like" this right now but these guys just don't crackle as a unit for me.

Is there any killer Glenn Hughes solo stuff I should look into?

Kagey's the one to ask about the solo stuff. it's on my list of things to listen to.

Yo Trevor!!!! Its all killer but Im biased. Glenn is such a force of nature IMHO and brings so much to any band that hes in be it Singing, playing or composing( or all 3). Hes got a pretty extensive discography and has played on so many records in addition to his solo stuff and its all worth owning. I believe that theres a Glenn Hughes Discography torrent out ther that will pretty much get you everything from Trapeze to damn near the present..

61 yrs old and the guy can rock out with the best of them. Hes straight up rock royalty from where Im sitting..

Well, I don't know how many people that are commenting have actually read any of the interviews with JB, but BCC was all Kevin's idea in the first place. So this band was created with Kevin being the "5th member".

I don't know about allowing someone to have the Final say in everything but there are a lot of bands that have had extensive input from producers, and in a lot of cases that is why they are hired in the first place. (Terry Brown with Rush, Mutt Lange etc.)

Joe talks about Kevin's involvement in his solo career and seems to be quite happy with what he has done for him.

I like the first two BCC albums a lot, are people complaining that the latest one isn't any good or just because they know about Kevin's level of control?
