I was excited to plug in and hear the re-fretted LP Custom but couldn't play at even normal volume today.

I thought it was a perfect opportunity to boost the front end of the SLO's lead channel to make up for the less than .5 setting on the master volume.

I used the Boss SD-1, basic level up drive down setting.

This is practice volume in your room basically...

Sounds killer, Tom. The boost definitely helps get it in the sweet spot at low volumes. ..Of course, through the Torpedo Live cranked half way up must be ridiculous, if you haven't tried that yet. I remember playing a gig with the SLO on 4 and damn was that loud. It keeps going up in a linear fashion past 5, unlike some amps I've played.

Honestly, i think it sounded better than the boosted 800 at low volumes...SLOs are so chewy and crunchy when dialed in right. Too bad the price point kills me.

Tom thats the best tone i heard from any of your recordings. Ya nailed the killer 80s tone. Now dont touch the controls and sell the 800's. Lol

That sounds great! I think the SD-1 is making your SLO a little more marshall sounding. I've been using the same boost with my VHT CLX lately and it gives it a little more marshall flavor it seems?

Sounds great! I boosted mine with a cheesy 20 dollar Danelectro EQ pedal, and got similar modded Marshall type tones from it. Working on getting one again...hopefully next week!

Sounds good!

Cool choice in tunes...haven't heard that in years...singing along in my head.

Awesome...but I kinda expected that before pushing play lol!!

I boost mine with a BB but your clip has me wanting to experiment now, at least for some crunch rhythm tones (I strictly use the BB for lead boosting). Hmmm, now to track down an SD-1.

I think EQ boost or SD-1 boost is perfect for non MArshalls to bump their mids and help with the cut. Instant magic. Using the same two pedals with a Marshall gets you that 80's honky mid tone that cuts like a knife. I dig both tones but something about that SLO. Damn that sounds great. It is the chewiness that the Marshall doesn't have. I want one.

Sounds good. Yeah what speakers? Is it an ubercab v30 75 mix? If so which was miked or was it room mic? I have slo and want a black bogner cab

Awesome tone. So much mediocre SLO clips on youtube, this one is killer!!! I wouldn't touch the dials either.

That tone sounds PERFECT for some hair metal.

Love it!

DAmn man that sounded so HAIRY/WIRY.....FN BAD to the BONE!!
Has to be one of my if not THE FAVE clip you have posted.

Hi Tom, that sounds really thick and grindy...very nice indeed! I may have to try one of those . I have had great results with my Suhr Koko boost as well as a Maxon V0P9

Oh, nice playing and cool to hear some Accept
