I must have 50+ pedals with 1/2 being gain/overdrive pedals.

The only issue I have with the 2 SD1's I have is the hiss...just a little much compared to my OD1X. But I still use both...1 is Taiwan and the other is from 86, MIJ...it does sound a little better than the MIT version. Both are a timeless classic though.dstroud":1uc7iksg said:but always end up with a Boss SD-1 as my fave i got a few mods i like but stock is fine too. and its the cheapest one, will i ever learn haha

Although a bit more notched in the mid, the stock SD-1 sounds like the winner to me here. Has a bit more sag.. the others have better definition but as I learned with the cusack (the other pedal you made sound killer), sometimes you want a bit more chewy give. It doesn't all have to be so tight and detailed. Right now, I am using one of the Klon derivatives and i think it is awesome.Feels like that extra gain stage for my jcm800.
