I'm pondering either Carvin or Warmoth for my next superstrat guitar. I know resale values aren't great on either. I just think it would be neat to do a semi-custom guitar. I can't spend the extra $ it would cost for a Suhr. So between Carvin or Warmoth, what would You Rigtalkers suggest?

I really like Carvin guitars, but I think you go in planning to change pickups. On a $1000 guitar that may be the deciding factor. Warmoth can be killer if someone good puts it together and sets it up. For ease, Carvin.

If you go with a stain (that you do yourself), resale value won't be that bad
I'm planning a Carvin myself in purple stain, which I've test on random pieces of woods and it'll look pretty good for about 50$

i have both and the Warmoth is much better in my opinion.

I have a Jason Becker Carvin best superstrat I've owned I've had all the usuals Jackson, BC Rich Charvel etc.... The Carvin has an amazing neck! The pickups ehh think I'll be putting some BK's in the future

I would go with the Carvin. I have one, and it will not be the last! Warmoth offers only bolt-on neck guitars. With Carvin you can go with a bolt-on, which imo has a much better neck joint, set-neck or neck thru. I think Carvin is virtually impossible to beat for the money!

Depending on what you want, GMW may be an affordable alternative as well. If you don´t stray that far from their baseline specs you can get away surprisingly cheap.

I'm interested on a 24 fret warmoth guitar. Have anyone here build one?

Buy a used Carvin. Re-sale really is that bad. I've had half a dozen of them. Buy used and you can get your money back later.

I have five superstrats. All warmoths...so, i say warmoths :)great options and their quality control has been great for me lately...

One thing to consider is the fretwork. CARVIN is as consistently excellent with their frets as anyone at any price, IMO. With the Warmoth, you may or may not need fretwork done and they may be something to consider if you get stainless frets.

These four Warmoths are mine. All finishes and fret work were done by Warmoth, I assembled them. I can't say enough great things about Warmoth. I'm planning to build number five next year if that tells you anything.

Both are good- more hassle with the Warmoth- Only do it if you have an excellent tech.
Carvins are for sure easier and you can return it if you don't like it.

Top one is Carvin DC600

This is USA Custom- very similar to Warmoth( I had 3 of those)
