Les Paul Copy: Schecter Anyone?

I've had USA Strats, Deads Caddy's, Les Pauls, Jacksons.

...I now love and play USA AND MIK Schecter PT's. I love them all. I started with the MIK PT's and they are incredible guitars, and not "just for the money".

I sold my Gibson LP Traditional and am somewhat missing the 24.75 scale only, so I'm looking at something like the Schecter Solo II Custom:

I've been singing the Schecter USA and MIK praises for a while now; total sleepers and I know people don't like them for their branding as metal only guitars and some of their uglier shapes and headstocks.

I don't want another Gibson: overpriced, imo and I lean toward the Tele shape and scale. The other thing I like about the Schecter Solo II is it has a cutaway, curved set-in neck.

Curious if anyone has ever played one of these. Cheers!

They are AWESOME guitars! They look great, they're built great, they're finished great, they sound great, they feel great and they have great features.

The necks are said to be C shape, but they are a little different..almost a D shape. Thin, but the shape is not like the typical cookie cutter LTD thin C that you get on a lot of Korean guitars

Two of mine have ebony boards, and they all have Schecter locking tuners and black tusq nuts.
The matte black and matte silver guitars are 24.75 scale and active EMGs, the Dragon Burst is 25.5 scale with passive USA Brimestones.

This particular LP shape also has the most accessible upper fret access of any LP type guitar do to a slanted cutaway near the neck pocket.

I've decided going forward these three guitars will be my main shapes. After owning the matte black model, I decided these guitars are going to be my new main shape. So pulling the trigger on two more was a easy decision for me.
 
^Dude, what's the model on that matte black one? That is killer. I require the no inlays.
 
Depends on what you are looking for. They are not Gibsons and wont sound like em. And no Gibson will have that kind of features for that price.
 
Do they make a USA version? I tried looking before but it didn’t look like it

It’s weird that only the guitars that say USA in the model on that page says “country of origin USA” in the description. The Solos don’t. So I wasn’t sure if they were. And then when looked for ones sale they said USA pickups but didn’t state that they were actually made in USA. IT was quite a while ago I was looking Mind u.
 
The non-USA Solo's are made in Korea, but have the USA pickups. ...The MIK Schecter stuff is really, really, good. As good as some USA stuff, imo.
 
Up here in Canuckland I ordered them from a big Schecter dealer. The two models I ordered are new and they don't have them in stock. They couldn't get them anywhere in Canada actually. So they are currently on order from Schecter USA. My lead time was 6 to 8 weeks and I I'm at three or four weeks so far.

It's the USA pickups I'm looking forward to trying too.
Not many clips on them I think I've only seen one or two and it's kind of hard to judge but they seem like something that would be up my alley. Spendy on their own to buy though. We'll see, lots of options otherwise being that they're passive...

 
The Solo II Custom appears to be thinner than a LP body. Perhaps she Plarinum Solo’s are thicker?

What’s the string tension like on these?

Scratch that I just measured my black one and it's actually the thickness of a LP Studio. So a bit less than a LP Standard or Custom. But still quite thick for a Korean import LP. Usually guitars in this range have thinner more modern/sleak LP body thicknesses. Which I have never been a fan of and why I ditched my LTD EC.

Yup, agree. I was also eyeing the ESP EC-1000 CTM, which is the regular LP thickness.

As long as it's at least as thick as my Schecter PT's, I can work with that. it also needs a little bit of weight, like 8 lbs or more.
