I know this is an opinion or whatever and beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I also am a total Tool fanboi also so maybe my bias is clouding my judgement but my God I have never seen a top or "facings" since they are front and back on a guitar or bass body ever like this:

That is beautiful. One day I’ll have a guitar with a nice top lol.
 
Buckeye Burl! So many sweet tops come from that. Love this one. I would do dumb things for that bass.
 
I love exotic tops! That one is a beauty for sure.

I have a spalted and flamed maple top,and a flamed redwood in a lightly blackened and bursted finish. Guitars like the above bass are art that creates art.
 
Damn that's nice.
I'm a big fan of burl tops in general.
