I use a KSR Ceres for my preamp with a Duncan Powerstage 170 poweramp. Sounds amazing to me but, I just play at home so take that for what it's worth.

I would also recommend the GUP Tech PPTSD Parametric EQ. It's a full parametric 3 band EQ for about $150. I bought one to try and it replaced my MXR 10 band, something I thought would never happen. I just ordered another for my other board. https://guptech.ca/products/pptsd-parametric-eq

KSR Ceres into a Seymour Duncan Power Stage 170 sounds great to me and fits on a pedal board.

You want to tallk bright? I had a Washburn NX6, similar to an N4 but hardtail. Same body shape and a Steven's cutaway. This particular NX6 body was made from a solid chunk of maple. The neck was maple with an ebony board. Imagine your N4 with a treble booster added.
