Got around to doing some George Lynch / Dokken recently. Here's It's Not Love. As usual for my videos, I removed the original guitar tracks and added ack all the parts. Used a Fractal Audio Axe FX3 for the tones.
So I went back and added two more tracks panning each one 56% left and right respectively. Big difference. Huge guitars now and much more present in the mix. Thanks for the feedback on the tune and the tips. Much appreciated.
Cool - I may go back and add the two 56% panned tracks in the session. Curious to hear it. I know that Jerry C used a tons of amps recording that record.
I used Lalai (online service) to remove the guitars from the original track. They do a pretty good job on most songs and they did really well on this track going after the guitars. On my version, I used a Friedman model with a GB cab on the left track and the same Friedman model with a V30 cab...
Steel Panther was recently auditioning for America’s Got Talent with this tune. I removed all guitars with Lalai and added the parts back with various tones from my Axe Fx.
Right on -- I have the same experiences with many of the stock presets. They require a bit of tweaking -- generally brightening on the top and thinning out some mud in the lower mids. I SPDIF into Reaper and sometimes apply some EQ there to get a closer match to various records -- think VH1...
I used the stock preset The Brown Sound with no tweaks to the amp settings. No drive pedals. The preset does have the Jose mod switch activated. Here's a view of the amp controls:
