I want to be a monogamist when it comes to amps. That said; I own 7 or 8 presently!
I could be totally happy with just my Morris UK68. Splendid amplifier in every way. The UK68, with its foot switchable boost, and my guitar’s volume knob get me all I really need.
I have a Metroplex MKII that...
So, my Metro MKII 100 watt arrived!
It’s fucking bonkerz good. Screaming, growling, plexi-about-to-blow-up tone. MV, check. Loop, check. 2 channels, check.
More to follow.
Sorry if this has been covered but: Does anyone know if it actually makes sense for them to do this? Is the demand big enough? Are the Russian, Chinese etc guys unable to keep up? Or is it a thing where they’d actually charge $100+ for 12ax7s and try to start a “high end” market type deal...
Oh man I’m foaming at the mouth!!
The UK68 is so damn good, and while it is definitely plexi/brown sound territory, it has it’s own distinct thing going on. Glen really is on some next level shit.
Can’t wait to give the Metro a spin?
Absolutely. I also have a 100 watt Metroplex MKII inbound!! Similar to the UK68.
Once the Metro arrives, I’m offloading a bunch of my amps. Between the UK68 and Metro, I should be all set.
If anyone is interested in a Friedman Smallbox or BE100 (with 1st channel modded to plexi by Dave F.)...
Ok my UK68 came today!! Played her for about 2 hours. Phenomenal amplifier, in every way. Stellar cranked plexi tone, great touch sensitivity and dynamics, lush harmonic content, cleans up with guitar’s volume beautifully.
Ran her through my 412 with GBs and V30s. Put some delay and reverb in...
Ok; I have a Perplex’d 3 Sig at my house right now. Stellar craftsmanship, layout etc. Killer tone.
However; I do find it a bit stiff under the fingers, not much “chew.” And it’s a bit nasally or buzzy—-something in the upper mids.
But it’s a good 5 years old and I don’t know how well it’s...
That’s awesome! Yeah his knowledge seems vast and unique.
Man, if I lived 5 minutes away from him, he’d probably have to get a restraining order because I’d be constantly bugging the shit out of him!!??
Yeah I’ve heard a lot of praise for the Morris MV design over the years.
Personally, MV is a tool I use mostly for live shows or rehearsal—so I can sit in that good/sweet spot in the overall mix. I’m not much of a bedroom player. (Actually, I am. But I just forgo the amp in that situation.)...
