    NAD - Friedman Runt 20

My SB manual came with some Friedman recommended settings which I started from and then tweaked. ‘The Friedman sound’, or so it states. I think the BE sound is in the dna of these amps so these settings might be useful universally. Those settings are B8 M6/7 T5. It states the gain for 8. Some...

    NAD - Friedman Runt 20

I recently shifted a few pieces of gear and landed a SmallBox combo. It’s amazing I love it. Stupidly powerful and impractical for a 40 year old dad in an apartment but whatever. The plexi channel is honestly one of the best sounds I’ve heard in an amp.

Is having a "bad" pick/plectrum an excuse for crappy playing

Purple Tortex or Wedge for me. 1.14. I tried the mini Jazz III back in the day but I find they promote a lot of thumb movement. I find I get a lot more control with the bigger picks.

    NGD Tom Anderson Drop Top

Not quite NGD, but only this weekend. Came into some money from a successful financial claim & thought i'd splash out. Initially bought a pink Mateus Asato Suhr but wasn't for me and switched it out for a TA. 2012 Hollow Drop Top in Maui Kazowie. Absolutely flawless condition, kept in...

    Blackmachine VI

Not talked about Blackmachine guitars for a couple of years. looks like Blackmachine are still taking orders for a new headless model using their stockpile of rare timber. http://www.blackmachine.net/vi.htm http://www.blackmachine.net/inprogress.htm

    VH4 v JJ v Helios v Uberschall

I loved my VH4, but I rarely ran it dry & pretty much always had ancillary pedals in the mix. On it's own, the VH4 is pretty direct and dry. I can see how someone might be underwhelmed by it on first impressions. I think that's its best characteristic though, in that it's got a tonne of...

So here’s a weird VH4 problem, anyone had this happen?solved

I've owned two VH4. I blew the main power fuse on both amps within a couple of minutes of turning them on. These things can happen, even with amazing amps like these. I miss my VH4 :(

    Amazing guitar. Would bang.

    What’s the Paul like?

I think this gives a decent rundown of the amp. Class A/B. It's a massively different beast to the Herbert in power output, voicing & features. It seems to be more a classic rock amp with a bit of extra gain on tap if you need it and with a sweet clean channel like the Schmidt. I've owned a...
