5150 iconic ain’t no slouch

I have owned the OG combo, 5152 and 4 different 5153 59 watt head and combo. This little 40 watt combo is a beast. The DNA is totally there! Great clean and monster dirty channel.

Bonus… I got it used in mint condition for $375!

Anyone else rocking the little guy?

I’d prefer a back line of iconics over DSL2k’s and peavey valveking heads but I’m not sure who shares those perspectives. They also fall in the same category as those line 6 bogner collaboration amps.

They’re great amps for their cost but they’re no Bogner XTC.

I had one. Killer amp but I traded it for a 6505. Will probably get another as I get pretty good discounts from a major retailer.

I've got the 40w combo and it's killer. Sounds huge even without plugging into a 4x12.

I actually feel like the iconic has more gain on tap and the mids sit more Marshall than SLO so although they share a 5150 lineage I do like the iconic a bit more sonically. I don’t own one because I’ve had the 5150 II for decades.

Yours sounded great at our mini amp fest....easily better than any iteration of the 5153 that I've owned...which include both 100w stealths, and 2 50w 6L6s. It doesn't have that fake 'plastic' sounding thing the others seem to have.
Killer amp, regardless of price.

They certainly don’t suck. Not sure it’s something I’d ever add to my stable but I use one a lot at rehearsal as the place we go to for a few of my bands has the head with a Sheffield 412 in the room we usually pick.
