What is it? Honestly I have never noticed it before….
It's the symbol for fascism.

The original symbol of fascism in Italy under Benito Mussolini was the fasces. This is an ancient Imperial Roman symbol of power carried by lictors in front of magistrates; a bundle of sticks featuring an axe, indicating the power over life and death.

I don't think that is the correct interpretation of the fasces or fascism.
The symbolism behind that is the idea that a single stick is weak, but bundled together, it is strong enough to serve as the handle for an axe. The point being that singular man is weak, but when acting in union, they exert power.

Fascism is the most ill defined term in modern politics. It's basically socialism with most of the state run business aspects removed internally, while acting in that manner outwardly- IE inside a country, companies must compete against one another and be privately owned, but the state will act to make sure those companies are competitive as possible outwardly towards other nations competition. Sort of like envisioning the country as a big teamsters union.

The US is not like that at all. The people running the US have zero sense of national pride/nationalism that is required for fascism. The US is run by a criminal syndicate that wholly interested in itself and its own financial gains at the expense of the nation. China seems more fascist than communist to me.
