I've got a used Einstein coming and I'm curious as to what tubes (Pre and Power) you guys like in the amp and why? Looking to get that crushing tone with dynamics and dejent low end.

By the way I play Les Pauls with an AIC kinda style.

Peter if you have some suggestions i would love to hear them.

Thanks!

Here you go man! This file shows you the tubes that Peter Diezel Recommends :)

Is that a Spaceballs reference I see there?

Dark Helmet - your handle sounds like a seriously hardcore interracial porn actor or movie name.

Well done.

Just got the Einstein today and it was loaded with TAD tubes pre and power and the glass on the power looks good. I won't be able to try it out for another 5 to 6 hours yet  . Any opinions of the TAD tubes that came in the Einsteins. I have heard good things about the EL34B-STR not too sure about the preamp tubes. I'm stoked to play this amp.

Thanks Sigma.

Haha! I love that movie! ;)

Sigma what are you using in yours assuming you have an Einstein.

I am actually Jamming a VH4, but I have never heard anything bad from any tube I have had in this amp. I have had three different kinds of power tubes and a bunch of different preamp tubes. So, I assume the Einstein is in the same boat and wont sound horrible with any glass you throw in haha. I think it has to do with how versatile and well thought out these amps are.

Oh, and I am using the recommended tubes for the most part currently.

I just retubed one with JJ KT77's and Ruby AC5 HG+'s and the dude loved it.

Laura, how are you, this is Ajay I was talking to you about my Uberschall and the tube mismatch about a week and half ago. I just got this Einstein and it rules very organic Marshally sound and punchy as hell I just put in a quad of EL34BHT's I had In my Quickrod and It's just crushing in the Einstein.

I had a set of JJKT77's in my Quickrod and I absolutely loved the tone but it only lasted me about 3 and a half months and that's at about 6 hours a week. How has your luck been lately with the JJKT77's?

Hey there. I have not had problems with them. The Gold Lions would be another option. I have had a few issues with BHT's but typically those are solid tubes.

I'm assuming for the power el34bht? What about the preamp?

Actually they are Ruby EL34BGs... these ones were just before he switched gears to the JJ Kt77's.

I am using in V1 a Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG+ 678 Diezel selection, in V2 a Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG+ and in the other sockets Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG.

this is in a VH4 ;) I will be switching out the power tubes (almost a year old :scared:) in July after my birthday.

What stage does V2 cover? I'm assuming it's the same in an Einstein.

Tried the E34L in other amps but have had bad luck with them. When you get a good set they sound great. Key word is WHEN.

"Tried the E34L in other amps ..." We were speaking to Diezel.

"WHEN" is purely relative. If you and "WHEN" you purchase JJ power tubes from a retailer that knows very little about JJ power tubes (other than making a sale) and how to properly match them, then good luck.

I get my JJ PTs from the most knowledgeable retailer in my country on JJ power tubes. What he doesn't know about JJ power tubes ain't worth knowing. JJ E34L power tubes out perform any other EL34 type power tube in the tone, dynamic, ruggedness and power handling arena, for what I have explained earlier, hands down.

Hey King, where do you get your tubes from?

I love the tubes, and I'm sure they sound great in the the Diezel amps. I have bought them from both Antique Electronics (great to deal with) and Eurotubes (never again from these guys). Anyway that's a whole nother rant. I really dig the tubes. It's hard to believe in these tubes when I have had 3 bad sets of these tubes. Perhaps I do need to find a more qualified supplier.
