So the Crate I worked on here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=156008
Is back again for some work. Symptoms were a rattling sound on the finish of the note, like a microphonic tube.
Pulled the chassis and I no longer hear the clinky sound, but now I hear a hissy unmusical distortion on the end of the note. Replaced all 3 12AX7s and the quad of EL84s and I still hear it. Noise is the worse when I turn down the treble on the amp and when I use the neck pickup on the les paul. Does the same thing with the stock combo cab as it does with my cab.
Looking for what to check next.
