I've been using the DS40 for about 8 months now. Prior to this I was using an old 50w JCM800. With the JCM800 I was using an old two knob Crowther Hot Cake to push the front end when I wanted higher gain. It worked great with that amp for me. Gave me exactly what I was looking for. Since switching to the Friedman I've noticed the pedal and the amp don't jive quite as well as it did with the Marshall. It almost gets to too "mushy".

Long and short of it: I'm looking into a new boost for the front end of the Friedman.

What are you guys using to push the preamp of your Dirty Shirley?

Original Suhr Koko kills on my DS rig. You can find them used fairly cheap. Good luck with your search.

I used a Keeley modded TS9 with the one I had. Perfect.

I really don't think you will need anything special. A regular TubeScreamer should be just fine.

Rockett Archer and E.P booster through the loop. I've also got an input switcher from Friedman.
The Rockett sounds awesome. It's like a "more" pedal. Works really well.

I also really like the Archer stuff. The silver one is more special, the gold one is more open and clean. Both really great pedals for any music style or amp.
