Doug Aldrich pickups

I have looked at these lately, and know that they are used in Les pauls a lot. But are they good in an agathis wood bodied guitar?

I'd asked John & Ed that very question and here's what Ed Yoon said about it !

The pickups will still bring out the character of the woods and should sound great with Alder or Swamp Ash. It is our thought that good pickups simply bring out the woody character of the guitar with clarity, warmth and musicality along with power to cut through. If you like the acoustic sound of your guitars, we’re confident that the Aldrich pickups will work great.

How do you think they'd work with down tunings?
