ENLG Fireball 100 - FX Loop Send into DAW - noise problems

When I record the signal coming out of the FX Loop Send of my ENGL Fireball 100 and directly into my DAW i hear a lot of noise that is not apparent when playing through the cabinet.

a few points:
  • - Signal Chain:
    • Guitar -> Amp Input -> Fx Loop Send -> Audio Interface -> DAW -> Two Notes Wall of Sound plugin (including power amp emulation)
    • * note that the signal doesn't return back to the amp. Therefore, no signal goes to FX Loop Return!
    - The amp is connected to a guitar cabinet at all times
    - The pre-amp signal on the DAW goes dead quiet when the noise gate is activated and no sound is coming from the guitar. However, when playing the noise is there
    - Both channels are noisy when recorded via the FX Loop Send

So the recorded signal has a weird noise (even with the Wall of Sound plugin active) that should not be there from what i understand. Does that mean there could be an issue with a tube (no lights are activated in the front of the amp that signal tube issues)?

Also, that noise is not apparent when playing with the cabinet (the signal doesn't leave the fx loop).

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks in advance!
