Hey Dave! I wanted to know what do you change in the GCX in the mod? thx!

you just change the buffer to something else? if that's correct, what buffer are you using to replace it?

I just mod the circuit and change the chip used but I am not going to tell which one. Dave

i completely back dave not telling you what chip.. there are so many opamps to try, he deserves to keep his secret

it wouldn't surprise me if he sanded off the top of the opamp so people could just buy more chips.

if you're adventurous, take out the opamps used for the buffers in the gcx, and drop in sockets, play around with different ones!

The sockets are already there oh and I don't hide the chip I just don't want to give it up that easy. Dave

Maybe he well give it up ? I have two GCX and would not mind knowing myself what to do.

Dave's a huge asset to any board with his wealth of knowledge and willingness to always help others with tech issues, even when they aren't his customers, but I don't think it's fair to ask him to give up his specific mod that he has kindly declined to respond to.

I never belived he would. This is his work after all...... but who knows ?
Checking out how he does the rigs is more than cool to me.
Since I am about ready to do a other rack seeing the few he put up already has made me see what I am going to do different.

depending on the GCX you could try:

- Burr Brown OPA2134
- LM833

i guess any dual channel opamp would work provided the pins line up right.
