2020 Killer Kali ++ mod done to Laney pro tube 50 with footswitch. Amp rips. Whole amp redone except transformers which he was very happy with. Mod features are 3 and 4 gain stage tube preamp, no diode clipping.dual gain controls with push/pull bright switches. Foot switchable 2nd Master volume (sounds good at any volume) Feel control ( tight to spongy) Violence gain control (adds adjustable 4th gain stage) Deep control, footswitchable simple clean.
From the man himself “ The Laney is essentially a JCM 800 2203 style circuit with an extra gain stage in front.I added a metro fx loop so that is an excellent option.Ive already started tweaking the circuit and making changes’-will be redoing preamp section to my specs which will make it sound real killer.Im having to do quite bit of additional work up front to prior to modding:remove/replace all the pots and jacks sockets, install all new grounding, gutting all original circuitry from the pcb board and replace the wiring too.BTW these amps are very robust physically and solidly made.the chassis is fully corner welded like a Marshall,all chassis mounted tube sockets and everything, also the glass control is super useful to have, I find myself using that a lot because it can really fine tune the tone of the amps power section. “THEN “ I have some excellent news for you:your amp is finished and sounds amazing.It came out even better than I expected! Tons of usable articulate gain, great dynamics response and harmonics galore.I ended up replacing the filter capacitors and installed super high quality F&T caps which were a huge tonal improvement and will be rock solid for years to come. The amp is loaded with original 80s era RFT (GERMAN)el 34s like the amp/jcm 800s used to have.These are my personal favorites! “. Rebuild was nearing 2000.00. This amp is killer. Beautiful custom Marshall head shell made for it . 2900.00 ppf shipped.
