Impedance question

I bought a 16ohm Torpedo Captor to use with my Peavy 6505mh that has a switch that can change from 4/8/16 ohms, so I didnt think to much of it, but I just realized that my cab is an 8ohm, so can i run the amp at 8ohm, into a 16ohm load box into an 8ohm cab? Or am I going to burn the house down?

Are you going to play your cab via THRU output, or ATTenuated output? If THRU, then switch your amp to cab impedance (8 Ohm). In case of ATT I believe you should switch your amp to 16 Ohm. But I would check with Ohmmeter.

Hello @greghoward45
As @mcstinger already said, if you are using the SPEAKER THRU of the captor to connect the cabinet, set your amp's output impedance to 8 Ohms.
If you use the SPEAKER ATT, set your amp's output to 16 Ohms so it matches the Captor's impedance. The impedance of the cabinet does not matter for the Captor when you use the SPEAKER ATT output, and it is not seen by the amp. No need to use an Ohmmeter for this setup :)
