I bought an RG550 Genesis in neon purple a little while back and had been longing to go a full 80’s shred style look for it. I was debating what color to use and landed on hot pink. I went with a Dimarzio DP215 Evo 2 in the bridge and DP158 Evo on the neck. The pickups sound a little muddy tho and I’m now debating on whether or not I shoulda stuck with the V7/V8 stock pups which sounded alright. I want an early 80’s crunchy thrash metal sound (like the Kill Em All guitar tone) outta my bridge. Guitar is basswood. Should I stick with the DP215 or is there another Dimarzio set that can get me closer to what I want... thoughts?
