Reload Attenuator with NMV amp sound issues

Hi TwoNoters!

I am interesting in knowing whether or not my Reload might be having issues. I am running a Bugera 1960 head on close to 10 and using attenuation down to around the first 1/4 sweep. At this level there is a weird phasing or squish happening to the high notes during chords as well as to the low end. The whole thing is noisier as well than when I go straight into the cab and use a Vol pedal in the loop. Is this normal or is there an issue with my Reload? It also squeals in spots but I understand this might happen due to the proximity to the amp.

Any assistance would be of great help thanks.

Hello. What you describe seems to me like the power tubes adding the compression due to the high level you are playing your amp. It is a normal behaviour for a tube amp. This also leads to feedbacking from the Reload when you get to close to it with your guitar, if the Reload is close to the amp.
