This device can really mow down any learning curve, no matter if it is EVH, Allan Holdsworth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Randy Rhoads or Steve Vai .

It has a loop function where you can jump back 5 seconds on complex / fast parts. You can add a Momentary foot switch to do either go back 5 seconds or go back to the beginning of the song .
It also has some decent built in effect
• Compressor
• Distortion/Overdrive ( not Metal enough, you may have to pump in a distortion or overdrive pedal )
• Modulation ; Flanger, Phaser, Chorus, Vibrato, Tremolo .
• Autowah
• Pitch Shifter
• Delay
• Reverb
• Exciter ( like a Sonic Maximizer)
It has 83 presets.
But as I stated, if you play Metal, you have to a distortion / overdrive pedal or multi effects unit to drive this device harder.
Another Con, is that this device didn't have a Noise Gate.

You can use the Head Phone jack to learn songs or you can use the Line Out jack to hook it up to an amp to practice with your favorite CD or use to play the music of a band you are auditioning with and learn their music to a tee .

• Tempo Key ; you can slow down the music down without affecting the pitch .
Depending on how the CD is mixed, you can eliminate the guitar or reduced it's volume, so you can play the parts with the CD .
It has a tuner ( can be recalibrate ) and metronome too.

Another feature I like about the CD-GT2, is that you can have the CD coming out of one side of the head phone and the guitar out of the other.
You can also raise the pitch of the CD to accommodate you , in case your guitar is lockdown with a Floyd Rose and the recording is tuned down . You can lower or raise the CD's pitch too.
It runs off 4 AA Bateries ( and it eate'em up , FAST ! ) or you can use a DC 5 Volt power chord to power this great learning device .
