Gonna be an interesting year, lots of variables, lots of changes to team lineups, lots of guys with something to prove. 250's and 450's are both stacked with a deep field. I know we have a few riders in here, who do you guys like?
And, The MX of Nations is at Red Bud again this year, a lot of interesting developments there, We certainly need to redeem ourselves with our last performance on our own soil. We have an entire battalion of die hard MX'rs going, anyone gonna make it up there?
I sure hope it doesn't rain this time, we played mud turtle for 3 frikking days at the last one
Nationals start at Fox Raceway (Pala) which is one of my least favorite tracks, but Ill take it. They should start at Glen Helen like they used to, that track is KILLER!!

sad to say I don't watch. However I'm having a fork issue with my boys kx450....looks like someone tightened it up with an impact gun. mechanic is having a helluva time repairing a fork seal. not looking good...

I always pull for Roczen. It was a shame he had to drop out of Supercross this season, but according to his Instagram he looks like he's ready for the outdoor season. I'm excited. I've always liked Tomac and Barcia too.

Agreed
He's struggled with a variant of Epstien Barr for awhile now. He sounds like he's in a good place at the moment. I think he will come out swinging and it would not surprise me if he won right off the bat. He's done it before. By the time we get to the end of August, we will know if its grinding him down again or not. Honestly I don't see how he does it at that level with that going on, he is a rare talent for sure.
Will be interesting to see Tomac and Ferrandes racing against each other out of the same semi, I know Eli has had very very special one-off suspension during the SX that was directly sent to him from KYB, its a hybrid system that uses a combination of air (probably nitrogen or Argon)
and lighter springs in the forks. KYB had an entire team of techs from Japan there helping them set it up early on. It looked like it was amazing when I would really pay attention to the bike and not Eli. Ferrandes did not have that suspension at the SX rounds he made early on, that had to stick in his nutsack a bit...
I have not heard if Ferrandes will have that same suspension yet or not, but he should, he's the defending champ. I would think a setup like that would be more of an advantage outdoors than in SX, but we'll see.
Eli is gonna be hard to stop, he's an apex predator monster who already has most of the momentum, but I think he's smarter this year. He knows you can't win the title in the first round, but you can certainly loose it...

Dam!!
Noobs with impacts.. Very dangerous and potentially costly...
Did he impact the top nut with the adjusters on it or the pinch bolts on the triple clamps???
Does your mechanic have the exact driver for the seal? I may have a seal driver set here, I bet I have a dozen different sizes up to 49mm, but Im not sure which diameter tube yours has. Mike it up and let me know, you got my number, call me if you need to (y)

Yep even SX season last year Roczen would just gas out toward the end of the mains, was tough to see.

I do not like Cooper Webb but I think he will be a threat. I’ve been hoping for another national to be hosted here at WW ranch here in Jax but I knew thatcc bc would be wishful thinking.

Like you said, the talent in both classes is deep this season, looking forward to watching.

Thats cool you live near WW! You guys ride there a lot?

Yeah, JT, "Automotive" was intended to cover everything cars and bikes, including motorsport.

Probably should have called it "Automotive, Bikes & Motorsport". That should cover cars, trucks, 4WD, everything 2-wheels and of course all forms of motorsport.

I'll ask admin to change it; could be a while but I'll get it done mate.

... and... it's done.

No way man, I'm terrified of that track and the talent that frequents it.
I understand completely..
The last time we rode Monster Mountain Kevin Windham was there lapping us about every 5-6 laps, I thought Id have to worry about getting in his way but his lines were so much faster it ended up not really being an issue unless I was on an inside line in a turn
Of course this was years ago when I was still riding

North Florida MX is a very fun, user friendly track and Mike Alessi lives nearby and rips it. It's amazing how fast these guys are, and how much a 450 wide open will wreck a track.

I consider Jeff Walker a pretty fast guy, I watch a lot of his videos on youtube, and he has one qualifying at WW and Christian Craig just blasts by him in the whoops like he is standing still. I mean it is just amazing the level these guys ride at.

You talking about getting the bottom legs off,? If so heat is your friend.

So Sexton had a great run at Pala and Hangtown, Roczen looked great too, Eli had a great 2nd moto at Hangtown, and it appears the Lawrence brothers will likely be battling each other for the National title unless one of them crashes out. I expected Mosiman to be good at Hangtown, he rides there all the time, but logging a win should give him some momentum in the next few rounds. Anderson looked great too.
Pretty amazing to see Dungey come in after 5 years and be top 5.
Gonna be a really good year for the outdoor Nationals!!

I must say that I love watching Sexton and Jett Lawrence ride outdoors, they have perfect form on the bike no matter where on the track you watch them.

What did you think??

Craig looked really solid the first 2 races, I hope he has a good year, he’s a super nice, humble guy.
I have never liked Alessi, him and his family pulled way too much stupid bullshit at races all the way back to his amateur days. He was always the opposite of “shut up and win races and you won’t have to say anything “
I will say at one time he was the best holeshot specialist I’d ever seen 👍

Sooooo.... Thunder Valley?
I think Dungey will do better here he has always done well there. But so has Eli.. And he's used to the elevation, I think that's gonna be tough for Roczen in the latter stages of the race. I know one year Anderson puked his guts out after a heat race. Sexton was the only guy to get into the 2:14's in practice, so he's gonna be a threat with a good start. Anderson and Craig also threw down some heaters in practice
We'll see what happens
