Anyone remember the short lived Rhino Amps? I just grabbed a 2x12 from my friends house, man this thing is built like a damn tank. He blew the Eminence speakers out back 15 years or so ago, so I am loading it with some Warehouse 65's that HMJ was awesome enough to give me yesterday. Anyone else remember this amp company? It was kind of a blast from the past when he dug this cab out to even see it.

The og yngwie signature brand
I almost bought one cheap about a year ago
But i started collecting old marshalls and i just couldn’t justify it

Taking the cab apart to clean it and replace the speakers. Turns out they were Eminence Legends. It's a pretty damn decently built cab. I am putting a new backplate on it; rewiring it and it should sound good. I am going to remove the Rhino logo..but part of me wants to keep it.

Yeah, I remember those from way back in the HCAF days. Twenty years ago, I guess? Yngwie was supposed to use that Rhino instead of the Fender Roc Pro for smaller gigs, IIRC.

I've never played one of these, honestly

Which is weird, because I've played a ton of amps.

What's it's sound like man?

I had to order a new wiring harness because apparently the last guy who owned it 20 years ago thought he was McGuyver with his wiring attempts. I am throwing those Warehouse ET65's in there when it arrives, so I will post some clips.

Always sad.

But I'm interested to hear it when you get it rolling!

Kinda reminds me seeing Joe Perry the back cover of a guitar mag posing with a Bedrock amp. Guess they sounded pretty decent back in the day.

I've had this Rhino Beast for years now. When I got it, it still had the ugly grey carpet headshell. I built a new headshell and did the snakeskin tolex.

The amp sounds really good, but has a couple of minor issues. There is a switch on the back that has 3 "sag" settings, but it only works in the "no-sag" setting. The reverb never worked, and I never bothered to look into it. It may just need a new reverb tank. Honestly, the amp sounds so good that I'd get these issues fixed if I had a decent local amp tech who was willing to do it. Otherwise it's fine as it is. It sounds great and seems to be well built.

It's what I would call a 2 1/2 channel amp I guess with the clean channel also serving as a crunch channel, but with more gain available than you would expect from a crunch channel. The high gain channel has a ton of gain and low end available.

One day I'll get around to doing some clips of this amp because the only thing you can find on youtube is a really bad clip that is just pure mud.

I actually own Rhino Beast #38 which is my KT77 head and Then I have Rhino Beast #75 which is my 6l6 head. I am currently recapping my KT77 head and am putting all Panasonic caps in and am also doing the pots. Which power tubes do you run?

Mine has EL34s. I can't remember my serial number ATM, but I think it's quite low too(which makes sense since they probably didn't actually make all that many).

Have you had any issues with yours? Do your sag setting work?

Both of mine work well. I service my own amps so I have not had an issue really other that dirt in the pots. I had gotten some dirt in the tube sockets from letting it sit with out tubes in the socket but that is no issue. My SAG works it only makes the sound as if my battery in my pick ups is dying so that is the point I guess lol. What you can do is replace the 2 wire wound yaego resistors or check it that are soldered still. those have been know to come loose in movement due to cold solder joints. I have went through mine with flux and some good kester 63/37 solder to avoid that issue.

I'll have to check that out at some point when I get the time.

Cheers
