Anyone have a Bluguitar Amp 1 Iridium edition?

I like simple and this seems to fit the bill for me, it also seems to capture the punch and crunch of a 100 watt tube amp pretty well.
Has anyone tried one of these? I remember the Mercury model and it seemed more "MEH" but this new Iridium the designer seems to have tweaked it successfully.
 
I haven't played one yet but the review videos always sound good.
I don't think Euge was faking it when he said that it souded like his bad boy.
 
I want an Iridium. Have been keeping my eye out for a used one to pop up. In January I am going to either hunt one down seriously or pick up a 1987X, Suhr SL67, or similar.

I have one, and I love it. I put it right next to my Peaveys and this fits right in perfectly. It sounds and feels like a tube amp.

I'm a high gain mostly guy. The built in reverb isn't the strongest, meaning it doesn't do too much... you have to max it out to get a good reverb going. I have had it for two years now and no complaints. Get one!

Edit: after reading the other posts, I am 10000% going to get the AmpX whenever it comes out.

What is this AmpX you speak of. Is it designed by the same Blug guy? He seems like a cool dude from the vids. I thought the Iridium was the next evolution to the Mercury model?

Either way I think this iridium has the dynamics and breathes much like a tube amp in almost every way, yeah it doesn't punch 100% as hard as a full size tube amp but you can hear the punchy percussion on the low end and the low resonates jjust like a full size tube amp. To me that is wha tis missing on the modelers for the player experience. I remember when the Mercury came out and I was lukewarm about it but this Iridium has my attention.......Fairly certain this would be right up my alley for direct recording connected to a Suhr reactive load and some IR's.:yes:
 
Just read up on the AmpX. Looks very cool but also expensive. At least expensive to me.. Didn't see a price though so maybe not.

Still the Iridium would be plenty for me.

The AmpX is supposed to be basically the Mercury and Iridium combined, at the very least. You're supposed to be able to purchase and download what are called "Blugprints", which I believe are new "amps". (Not sure how it's done exactly, but there is info on the web you can read about it).

Also, I believe the AmpX is supposed to have some more effects built into it; delay at the very least I believe. Hopefully it will have a built in tuner.

It's supposed to cost around $1,600.00 at least. I believe. I am a minimalist player myself. If this has everything the Iridium has, plus the ability to get more high gain amp sounds,, built in tuner and delay, then that's literally all I'd ever need. Last I read it's supposed to be out by June
 
From Blugs description of the Mercury and Iridium both are analog with basic resistor/capacitors circuits is there digital processing in the Iridium?

Sounds like the Amp X has software?

He seemed to be genuinely impressed by the Iridium and I thought the tone between Bad Boy and the Iridium were mostly indistinguishable judging by the A/B clips... but the true test is the player sitting in front of what he is hearing and how it feels to him, dynamics, punch and does it give the player the same experience as their favorite tube amp and it seemed to do it for The Count(Euge) as he has already kicked his Friedman BEOD to the curb in favor of the Iridium.

My ignorance doesn't know that much if there is digital processing.

Yes I'd agree it sounds like that but I don't know for sure.
 
I'm definitely interested in the Iridium amp. IF I decide to get a new amp it will probably be the Iridium.

I like what I hear, and in the other video they seemed to be able to dial in just about any type of amp tone from Fryetter to Dual Recto and JCM800 so what's not to like.....
 
I tested one and I’m on oposite side. It has nowhere as good sound as mediocre tube amp (DSL, 6505, etc.) Very harsh on top end and very flat sounding. It has ultra sensitive knobs to dial in a sound. After one hour of tweaking when I thought I gotna usable sound, I switched back to tube amp (15W Orange) and I was massive difference in dynamic and warmth… But ymmv or maybe I am spoiled with some great amps an this kind of amps sound like toy to me ?
 
I don't know where and how you guys find all these things. It sounds amazing, I would love to hear it in person.

Yeah....unfortunately that's always been the same issue with me as well. When you finally get something like that right next to the real amp that you are accustomed to then the shortcomings of the new technology reveal themselves.

I still think it has more real tube dynamics and characteristics because with a reactive load or speaker cabinet because it really has a negative feedback circuit because it is a real tube amp more so than say Kemper or Fractal.

I would still like to actually play one of these just to see...:yes:
 
Order from Sweetwater and return it if you don't like it.

I love the boosted Peavey 5150/6505 sound. How close does this amp get me there, and more importantly, is it easy to dial in?

For me, it gets so very close. Ot will get you right there.. and the nanotube will make it feel real tubelike. And it is very easy to dial in. Once you get all the bass mids and treble dialed in the way you want it, there are a couple extra knobs on the side that you dial in to taste.

The side knobs are tiny and flimsy though, but once you set it you shouldn't need to mess with it ever again.
