I have (4) 100w tube amps and (3) different cabs, and I'd like an easy way to switch between various combinations of them. This looks like it would do the trick:

I would only ever have one amp powered on at a time, into one cabinet. Unused amps still see a load though, just in case I forget to power one off. I don't need a loop for effects or attenuation, this is just to make it simpler to use different combinations without having to move speaker cables around.

Any thoughts on this? Or other switchers that would do the same thing?

There's a bunch of different switchers and once you have one your life will be changed . I have an Ampete 88s studio for 8 heads and 8 cabs I use everyday and I Have the de Lisle 8x6 pro plus that I've never hooked up . They all work fine . Alot of folks like the KHE and Markus is good to deal with . You can stack those and the Ampete brands to use multiple switchers linked together if your collection grows . Some are midi switchable but I tend to want to keep mine simple.

Following this, thanks for asking the question??

It switches in loads for amps without a cab selected? I don’t see that.

I have the DeLisle 8x6 Pro (can do 8 amps, 6 cabs, allows to inset an attenuator and an effects loop).
I have 4 amps and a Synergy rack/KSR PA50 going through it.
Had it built about a year and half ago. I called and spoke with him before ordering and he builds them for each order but only takes a couple days at most if I recall, so if you need anything special, give him a call. Well built, changed my whole world. Highly recommended.

Edit to add DeLisle's a small builder in Indiana.

I spoke with him last summer. He said that he could add a direct input to one of these units. I fully intend on purchasing from him / inflation and uncertainty are giving me pause for now.

I use a 3x3 switcher of his to swap between the speakers of my combos. It's nice because I can pair any combo with the speaker from a different combo. Nice option for recording. I use a PS2 in the attenuator loop. Allows me to use the effects loop in the PS2.

I don't do a lot of switching on-the-fly. Meaning I'm not concerned with making sure I have a load on the other amps plugged into the switcher. I keep them in standby until I want to play through them.

I have an 8x8 deluxe. It's solidly built and I haven't had an issue with it. There are several switcher on the market; DeLisle, Ampete, Kahayan, KHE. They all do the same basic thing, allow you to connect multiple amps and cabs together. They all have an amp protection load built in and are all well built. So with making a choice it really comes down to features and price.

One main difference between DeLisle & the rest is that it's a rotary knob switch and doesn't use MIDI, the other ones are mostly button press with MIDI. But then DeLisle is less expensive because of this. Personally I wanted to have more cabs on the switcher over MIDI and price wise DeLisle was the better option. The rotary knob is more than adequate for me.

The other difference is I don't think the DeLisle units have an add on capability to chain several switchers. On the up side though he has more thn enough offering to accommodate most needs. Hell, he even has a 20 amp head switcher.

I could go on about the quality, reliability, and customer service of DeLisle, but I'll leave it sufficient to say they're all top notch.

I will add that if you contact DeLisle they're very responsive. If you something particular and it's within reason he'll do it for you. I asked about having a switcher made to handle 300 watt amps. He said he would have to put in a larger component for the load protection, but he would be able to do it.

For you, Since you're looking at the V2 I would actually suggest spending a little more and getting at least the 4x4 deluxe. Eveything is set up in my music room. Even though I'm not switching on the fly mid song and don't ever think I would, it is handy to have 2 or more amps on and easily switch with the turn of a knob. No need to shut an amp off, turn the other on, move the instrument cable, etc. like you would have to do with the V2. Convenience alone is worth the extra money. Having the attenuator loop is an added bonus. If you anticipate getting more heads or cabs step it up to the 8x8 so you have room to expand.

I gotta ask any chance you’d sell/ trade the delisle?

I have that same one in the classifieds for a good price.
