Voltage regulators?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a voltage regulator that can keep me in the 120V (+/- 2V) range, under $1k. I don't need anything else other than voltage regulation. Does such a unit exist?

Isn't the best inexpensive one the brown box?

hey brother, unfortunately that's just a voltage attenuator, it's not going to add anything if you drop low V. I have a Brownie as well, but my voltage jumps around. I can be playing have the Brownie adding +3V to to 115V from the wall, and all of a sudden it will jump to 123V after a random amount of time. That +3V then adds to the 123V and the amp starts sounding brash and stiff. I really wish it had a limiter.

That's absolutely crazy that it jumps around that much, normally in the US the power is running hot and that's the issue

thanks man, but unfortunately that's a higher swing than I'm looking for. It says "120V, ±5V", which is a bit more variance than I'm looking for.

Ah ok cool, this might be too weird of a suggestion but you might email Dave Friedman cause I bet he deals with this issue on rigs he builds all the time 🤷‍♂️

it's absolutely nuts. My development was built after WWII, and they thought they were cute running the power lines behind all the houses. Trees have overgrown the whole thing. I had a fire 2 years ago, because the cable lines crossed the power lines, and sent all the power down people's cable boxes, lol. The entire block. It lit up everyone's house around me, including mine. It was like mad max thunderdome. I used a blanket to put mine out at the power meter, then had to get my elderly neighbor out of his house, as the whole corner of his house started burning. Luckily we were able to put it out with blankets, but the whole block burned. It was nuts.

I'm in upstate NY, and they invest NOTHING in our infrastructure, even though we pay some of the highest taxes in the country. My power grid is held together with bailing twine and duct tape. Literally in some places.

edit: some pics, there were like 4 different fire companies there, including our own. Luckily(?) all our houses have asbestos shingles underneath.

I have a bigger pricier unit than what’s in your budget, but if I were looking sub $1k, I’d probably get something like this:

appreciate it man, I think I might have to settle on 120V (+/- 5V), they are the most reasonable. I almost pulled the trigger on that unit, but the +/- 5V put me off. What are you using? The smallest swing in variance I've found are the Black Lion units.

I managed to find a 10% off coupon + no taxes on a Black Lion Audio PG-2R through Perfect Circuit.

It was backordered for like a month but got it for $1079 total.

Pretty schweet, thanks man. Can you DM me the code, it's worth a shot!

I've used this one for a while. It works great. They are getting harder to find.

Thanks man, any idea what the variance is on that unit?

I’m using the same Black Lion unit you linked here. Works great.
what an awesome unit. I think it found a problem in my house wiring that I'm going to look at. While watching its front panel, and using a brown box, I could see my wall voltage swing, while the BB stayed a constant 118V(one increment down). I saw my wall swing between 115V and 123V, but my BB stayed a constant 117-118V. I realized someone was using the microwave in the kitchen when I saw 115V, which affected my wall voltage on a different breaker. That isn't good, I think I have an issue at my panel, like a loose neutral or something, so I'm calling an electrician.

Best of luck, could be something simple like a loose lug on your mains, hopefully they get you sorted out.
