No brother, I am not into hair metal at all, but unlike some people, I have no issue with you posting it to your heart's content.

Well, I was raised up on Sabbath, Zeppelin, Maiden, etc. I'm a huge Yes and Rush fan. I really like Primus, AIC, RATM, STP, Soundgarden. The Beatles after 1966, The Cars first 2 albums, Kiss before Dynasty, Deftones, The Doors, AC/DC, Hank Sr and Hank III. I like lots of shit. I'm just not a fan of most hair stuff. At the time we called it pussy rock. That said, while it was going on I was a long hair in LA trying to break big with my band and hung out with a lot of those guys on occasion, though I actually hung out more with guys that got famous awhile after I knew them. I hung out with Morbid Angel and Nasty Savage in Tampa for a minute. Also, a caveat, Motley Crue's first album ( I think it's their first) Too Fast For Love is fucking awesome even if the mix is super shitty.

haha dude i think everyone called it pussy rock (i called it that because you were guaranteed to get laid lol)

thats cool dude, thats a good variety of bands, are your top bands also embedded somewhere in there?

That is a completely incorrect analogy

It's more like hearing the same song literally EVERY time you go into the grocery store.

"What's wrong dude? Can't handle "All I want For Christmas is you"? Just don't go in the grocery store!"
But we have to go to the grocery store. We don't have to go to Rig-Talk.
And we can wear earplugs at the grocery store, just like we can ignore certain topics here.
But you're right, we did have a spat of VH threads there and I've created some myself.
I forget the guys name but I think he rubbed you wrong with EVH tone shenanigans. VH1R2 maybe?
I did make a Van Halen thread in the Music subform - feel free to point them in that direction.
It has been mostly Thrash and Death lately so things seem to ebb and flow you know.

Well the main thing I remember about being a long haired guitar player in LA in the 80s was the pussy. And the cocaine.

I like too much stuff to pick a top band. But if I was pressed I would probably say AIC ( saw them about 7 times), Primus, STP and Yes.

Seriously though..i am more of a fan of most that stuff also. Grunge was huge for me. I am pretty new to metal, but i fucking love it. Morbid angel is big for me.

There was a point in the late 80s/early 90s where I was so sick of the bullshit that was on the radio ( Bon Jovi, etc.) that I quit listening to music altogether. Then a buddy of mine bought me one of those new fangled CD players and the Blood Sugar Sex Magic CD. That did it for me. So called grunge was a huge revelation to me. I was convinced there was no more good music coming ever, then Bam.

I lived in a flop house near the corner of Platt and Plant St. in Tampa and one of my "Neighbors" was one of the dudes from Morbid Angel. He was a fucking psychopath. I have never been huge into Death Metal really, but I sure liked hanging out with those mother fuckers.

One of my closest friends and a dude I have known since we were less than teenagers was the bass player in a band called Corrosive. I gave him his first bass lessons. He's much better than I am and these days he's in a dance/cover band. But Corrosive had a pretty big following in the midwest and Europe. They were doing the death metal thing about the same time as Nasty Savage and those guys. A few months back he sold one of their original CDs to a dude in Denmark for like $300.

I will quietly admit to liking Ratt's first 2 albums. And I liked it then too. Back For More, Wanted Man, Round and Round, You're in Love. I like that shit.

thats what i'm talking about!!!

just music for good times man
