I really wish peavey would stop pushing the 6505MH and release a peavey 5150 2x12 50W head in EL34. Tube buffered loop, tube buffered reverb, that amp kicks ass.

I don't see the Peavey 5150 60w Combo listed. It's got a unique voice (mostly thanks to a built in pre-gain LPF with a unique cutoff frequency somewhere between the OG and the 5150 II) which makes it some peoples' favorite.

I've not owned them all, but the OG 5150 2x12 combo is probably my favorite.

As it happens, that's the one I still have.

I had a few Block Logo heads for years. I always loved them for the fat low end, but got kinda sick of the grating upper mids after several years. Now I only have the 50W 6L6. I have considered getting the 5153 100W Stealth. I have wondered how much bigger it would sound than the 50W.

It does sound decently bigger. The lows aren’t louder but the lowest lows do extend farther down the spectrum and the mids are a bit thicker. Not that there are more mids in the 100 Stealth’s post EQ, but it feels like there are more mids in the gain staging that makes for a thicker sound. Boosting the mids a bit with a pedal into the 50w can get you decently close to the 100 Stealth’s mids, but the low end punch is much harder to replicate.

I usually run an EQ in the loop of my 50w to boost the low end, so maybe that makes them more comparable?

I had the chance to AB a 90's 5150 II with a EVH EL34 Stealth... I'll have to go with the EVH one, simply because I can get that insane High Gain Tone mith more of that british mids I love, and I can get proper clean tones whereas with the Peavey... let's just say cleans are not its cuppa

Well...Looks like the original Peaveys (5150 / 5150 II) and the EVH 6L6 Stealth versions are our winners....Original is still a very popular amp for recording and touring after all these years.

Very, very happy with my 100s 6l6, whilst I will still get something of a different flavour at some point, just now it hits the spot!

5150 III 50W 6L6 Stealth
All three channels are outstanding, with much better cleans than 100w Stealth & 100 5153 OG.
Also nice that it is a lot lighter & smaller than 100w.

I love them all . With a boss ns2 with a battery allows me to to get a fear factory tone . And yes I tryout believe Demanufacture was a 5150 : Collin Richardson force that amp on all his clients during that era

Well then Dino was lying in interviews...And lied to me personally. Which I guess is possible.

I voted for the 5150II. I used to own one and traded it at one point. Always missed it. Bought a 6505 later but it never sounded as good.

I met Dino too he was duper cool .and dime always saying he onky used solid state . Dino did always use the 800 live . But in the studio it’s a diffent story always from these dudes

Understood...What do you suspect his motivation would be to lie in all the interviews and lie in his conversations with me regarding using an Elan Menron modded Marshall over a 5150? I don't see any benefit in doing this.

Because producer made him and enjoys the 800 and always used it live . Collin Richardson made everyone use it for a period . Even now Dino always uses EVH if you watch him studio . Idk . Dime his the wizards ?idk why

Yeah..I'm familiar with Collin Richardson's favoritism towards the 5150. I worked with Logan Mader on a project and plugged into the "Burn My Eyes" EVH Block Letter 5150 with Richardson's settings. I have also discussed gear with Dino on several occasions and he has always insisted that the base rhythm tone on Demanufacture is a MH Mod Marshall JCM 800. Again, I can't see why he would make this up...what would be the motivation?
