Peavey Classic 50 amps: Is the same circuit in the head and the combo?

I was listening to Dan Huff recently and he got some real killer tone out of that classic 50 head.

Online search only shows 2 sets of schematics: one for the early version without the effects loop, one for the loop.

I believe that they're the same circuit other than the head has an effects loop.

Thanks for clarifying, thought only the heads had the loop.

I just sold a combo made in 2006 and it had an effects loop.

I always wanted the Classic 50 4x10. What model are you shopping for bro @JohnnyGtar ?

I just realized that I've owned my Classic 50 for 25 years! 😱 I have the 4x10 combo. I read online years ago that someone suggested a Tung Sol in V1, JJ in V2 and Sovtek LPS in V3. This combination does sound pretty good.

I knew the combos were a nightmare to work on. Is the same true for the head version?
I've only had combos. Triple folded pcb attached with cables, shoehorned in the chassis. Good times.

Definitely one of the better bang for the buck amps out there still.

Although it’s a bummer you can’t just call Peavey up & order replacement parts as easily as it used to be.

The Classic 50 is one of my favorite amps. Both the heads and the combos had a loop but there are some without. I think maybe the earlier ones didn't.
Here is my old combo running through a 4x12

I used to run (2) 2x12 combos in stereo. Sounded awesome, and they'll get downright nasty boosted.

James Brown used the Classic 50 as the platform for the crunch channel on the JSX.
