I've owned and gigged with a few Slo 100's and 30's - mainly 30. Bought a like new one with what seller said was stock tubes with next to no hours.
I found from the 1st time I plugged into it the amp had way more gain on both channels than I know for certain the previous amps had.

I don't want to use a different pre amp type tube 12ax7's are what I'm used to. I'm posting to see if you who know the brand have heard different gain amounts in different amps you played through?

I may call Bad could be a biasing thing too? Also trying some other 12x7's will be next
 
You might notice a slight difference with tubes but not like you’re talking. There’s a chance it’s biased hot. The only way you’d hear that much of the difference is if one amp had a 12at7 and the other a 12ax7

I tried those tubes and even did a comparison for a YT video. I need to ck whats in there as the seller made the statement 'I did some tube rolling'
 
My SLO 30 came with a JJ ECC83S in V1 and the rest were the BAD Boutique brand. I ended up with a Tung Sol in V1 . Sounds brighter (in a good way) and more open than JJ . I didn't notice an increase or decrease in gain though
