He posted quite often until some people here began giving him some crap. He’s very active still on TGP however. We’ve lost many of the core pro players that used to post here. Andy Wood was another.
Missed this.

Yeah, it is a shame. Unfortunately, one of the things that makes this forum great, light moderation, means that trolls and shit talking can run amok.
On the other hand, if you’ve a mind to look beyond the surface there is much to be said for leaving free speech to create the status quo.
The heavy moderation on TGP is biased towards some industry contributors and there will be few members who have not had a shot across their bows for mildly critical comment.
Look at the balance of posts and draw your own conclusions.

Completely agree on that. I think most of us would. The low/no moderation doesn't bother me one bit. I just wish people that come to troll, talk trash, spew politics and bash others would take a hike.

Such a good video on several levels but mainly the cool factor that Jose bought into the equation that made the 80's so good for guitarist. I search every old Marshall I see in music stores by looking on the back for that Arrco Amplification sticker. It's a long shot but maybe one day I will unveil one of these mystical amps.

I'm just excited to learn that the place where Jose did his mods is 1 block from where I live. I just had my vacuum fixed there a couple months ago! (*pardon the irrelevant post, had to share.... carry on...)

When jose was doing mods Friedman was 10 years old. All this is second hand news.

Really good video, I enjoy any time with those guys. I almost always learn something new. The amp sounded great, the history was great. Good job all around

Watched it a second time as well.
Really really good.
I thought the amp sounded great.
Not my style (I’m more heavy chug guy)
But I would rock that

Damn, that Steve Stevens Rebel Yell tone is the most mind-blowing thing I've heard in a long time. Dialled in to perfection.

Friedman has opened up more Jose Marshall’s than anyone.

I never thought I’d say this but I somewhat disagree. It becomes a problem when the pros with first hand knowledge and top notch chops begin leaving. Some moderation is required to keep free speech and quality information in balance. Rules, unfortunately, are required. If not you end up having the mail clerks running the business. I use to believe that members should be able to say ANYthing they wanted so the other members could self-moderate by realizing who to pay attention to and who to personally block. Then I started my own page. I began noticing that the people that really new the answers to everyone’s questions began leaving due to unwarranted harassment by others. Some people like to throw stones at the people on top. The quality of the page began going down hill until some of the trouble makers were booted. Unfortunately, it just has to be done on occasion for the benefit of the subject at hand.

The Pete Thorn departure was a strange one.. here you have a guy who is known in the industry, makes a ton of videos for fun and so we can hear various pedals and he get attacked for putting out an instrutional/tips video? Big deal if others can play better. He's no slouch and he was offering a few tips. Seems like a solid guy, always helpful and responds to the tons of comments he gets on youtube when time permits. He seems like a guy you could sit and have a beer with. I get we all like to take the piss out of each other now and again but I found the reaction to some of the vids he posted a while back to truly be odd. Are we that bored or empty inside that we have to jump on a dude who is making a living being a musician? Anyway, i still dig it here.. I am too lazy to go to other forums so it suits me just fine. I like the fact that I can see adds for chinese sneakers and then threads of guitars and gear I will never be able to afford all on the same page!

Well said...FWIW I've met Pete three different times at NAMM and he was always up to chatting about all things gear. Just a genuine dude.
