Best clean on a high gainer ?

I really love the gain on the ED also. A Vox meets Marshall flavor. I don't consider it high gain. Boosted it can get there for sure.
Def not a high gainer but like a strange was crunch that can get very compressed while still crunch . Unique

Those CAE/CAA OD100s and 3+SE amps

I'm still kicking myself not buying that OD100 Classic years ago

This… the 3+/SE pre’s are some of the most phenomenal cleans I’ve ever heard in this arena.

Also the 101B’s clean is fantastic. Reinholds settings in the manual that set it up like a super reverb are just that: a super reverb in a high gain shell. Really really great.

My fav is my Diezel Herbert . The cleans are fantastic . You what fuck with yours ? There’s alot of other shit in it that’s not high gain

That I have owned/own:

Mesa Mark V

Mesa Royal Atlantic

Marshall Vintage Modern

Marshall 2555x

Best.....Marshall Vintage Modern by a very large margin.

Of what I have owned -
JVM410 - excellent clean channel. Some sparkle to it.
Fryette SigX - big and bold almost Hiwatt type clean.
Mezzabara Trinity - Clean is somewhat Fenderish.

My Mesa MkIII's have great cleans, though with the shared controls, it requires different setting than when I set it up for high gain, so it's a mixed bag. However, I can get both out of the Quad Preamp.

20 years ago I ended up selecting an Egnater TOL100 for recording cleans on a bunch of tracks I did for someone, and he had a collection of old vintage BF Fenders. That TOL100 through the matching open 2x12 was fantastic.

My Mesa mark iii coliseum has the best cleans in the house. Better than the XTC which is a fender deluxe copy. Next is the low input of the Laney GH100S. An absolutely stellar clean tone.

Sig X cleans are what I use the most. Unusually versatile since all three channels do clean. The overdrive on the clean channel rivals my NMV amps. Can do that Hiwatt clean via KT88 girth and punch.

20th Shiva cleans are prob my favorite. I had a Carol Ann Triptik for a bit that had a great clean channel as well.

I don't own it anymore but was going to say JP-2C also. I think it had infinite headroom.
It has it if you want it, but if you want breakup and crunch you just have to crank the mid knob.

Best clean channel on a high gain amp IME are the JP2C, EVH 5150 III 50w Stealth 6L6, and PRS MT15. I haven’t tried the MT100 but if it’s a bigger and better version of the 15, I’m sure the clean channel is as good as everyone says.

Yep I owned a Hiwatt DR 103 for a short time and clean it was just massive sounding, SigX is much like that. Just a big sounding clean tone, you can feel the notes.
