Is anyone having luck moving gear?

I haven't been paying much attention to the used gear market. I'm not looking to buy or sell anything right now either. Just doing some light window shopping I've noticed the same things still sitting there even with fairly reasonable prices.

What's been going on? People still not having enough disposable income to buy your listings? Prices still a bit too high for you to pull the trigger? Election jitters and everyone's at a standstill?

What's been your experience recently buying/selling stuff?

Not much luck here although I don't sell a ton of stuff.

Whatever I list is equal to or lower priced then anything else I can find available and it still sits.

Took me like 4 months to sell a schecter that was $300 less than anywhere else for the same guitar.

I just listed a guitar on Reverb for sale yesterday, so I guess I'll find out.

In the last 1-2 years I've sold nearly everything I wanted to sell except 1 guitar, that I decided to keep.

To sell things, people need to be realistic about prices they sell at- the used market was overinflated the last few years, and is now correcting. The only things I’ve seen move quickly have been super rare things or things priced very low, and it’s just a reality of the market- guitars in particular are barely selling, but I sold a guitar in like 3 hours recently so it just depends on what people want

Ive sold 3 pedals in the last few weeks on Reverb. They have been on Craigslist and FB Market as well and nothing there. You have to have realistic expectations though. If you price it at about 60% of the value new + free or reasonable shipping, you'll sell.

I have had pretty good luck selling guitars under $800 this year. Last year I sold two guitars at $2,000 pretty quick, but can't seem to move a well priced guitar for $850 locally this year. Started at $1,000 and dropped over the past 6 months to $850. Only had some bad trade offers.

Pedals and Synergy modules have been selling OK for me, but I am pretty much tapped out on what I want to sell so just in browsing mode now. I do see a ton of the same gear sitting on FB marketplace and CL locally for a long time now though.

It’s been very slow. I’ve been able to sell a decent amount of pedals and speakers, a guitar today that I took a bath on in losses, but haven’t been able to move anything else lately and some I have listed below average prices they’d at least used to sell for

I still have been buying the same as usual, just haven’t seen any high dollar items that I’d want come up recently. I was doing actually better than ever selling in late August/early September and then things just quickly died

I've been offloading gear since the spring and it has gotten progressively slower. The last thing I have listed is my BE100 Deluxe and I think it is priced very favorably and it has just sat still the past few weeks. The lower $ items move quicker which is no surprise to me though. I don't have it listed here as I'd prefer a local sale up in Toronto, Canada.

I honestly think it has to do with pricing and people needing to be more realistic. Prices are not what they were at the peak of this. Forums are some of the worst for this, because we value rare stuff.

Just because it’s listed somewhere else at that price doesn’t mean it sold for that. I see this for rare items almost on a daily basis here or on reverb. People listing things hundreds or thousands of dollars more than the last evidenced sale…. Doesn’t work like that.

I will say, occasionally one of us here will just pony up and pay someone’s stupid price that has no basis for how high it is… I’ve definitely done it myself, but I don’t necessarily expect the same thing back. I understand if I sold that amp I’d probably be selling it at a big loss, but I’m okay with that.

I mean even the housing market people listing their houses at crazy prices with these interest rates and wondering why they’re sitting for months.

People think it's still 2021 and they have gold

Used shit that isn't rare or vintage should be maximum 60% of the new price. I'm not interested in someone's $200 pedal for $190 + shipping

I mean even vintage or rare stuff isn’t where it was either. People still trying to get 10k for a IIc+ FOH. It’s over lol. I say that as someone who owns some of this stuff.

Yeah, waiting for sellers to catch up. Id rather pay full price from one of these B&Ms that do 12 months affirm then pay 80% MSRP for someones used gear
