Is anyone having luck moving gear?

Not much luck here and I also see other people’s stuff sitting for long periods of time although some prices slowly dropping. I get lots of interest but it’s mostly trade offers and people making genuinely low ball offers with a side of sob story like that will make me just give something away.

If you still own it after 3 or 4 months of listing, no matter if you think the price is fair, it obviously is not. So you can let it sit there or drop the price if you want to sell it.

I'm looking for an additional guitar, and even the used prices are high. New prices are crazy. I'm somewhat interested in the Pro Mod Charvel San Dimas relic in White, but $1599? Crazy.

I mean even vintage or rare stuff isn’t where it was either. People still trying to get 10k for a IIc+ FOH. It’s over lol. I say that as someone who owns some of this stuff.

i thought this as well with iic+'s, then recently ive seen a few go for that much again so who really knows

I saw one for like 7 go, but that was the highest I saw recently. And it’s always one of us few gear nerds, like I said that’s fine. But expecting the same resell value when you totally knowingly pay above market is just dumb too.

I can't move my 92 VHT but I just bought a VTM120 for $400

I've sold around 10 guitars/amps in the last couple months. Made money on all but one. I just see what ridiculous prices others are asking and price mine 50-100 bucks lower. Given it was all stuff from $500-$2000. Nothing really high end. All I've got left to unload is an early 80's jcm800 4x12 I'm not gonna ship.

I’ve had no trouble selling stuff on Reverb and sold my MKV on EBay within the last year and a half. I had a Gretsch sitting on Reverb for a few months (longest anything had taken), never changed the price (was at a decent price, just never felt pressure to keep lowering it) because I almost didn’t care if I sold it (good guitar) and out of the blue I got asked a few questions about it and the sale happened.
I will say, I always offer shipping at a cost I estimate Pirate Ship will give me, not the ridiculous $100 people are charging for guitars and $200 for amps. But I did lose 15 bucks on the shipping on the Gretsch because I think the buyer lived in some more, remote rural area. So he kind of got a discount after all 🙂.
Just wish I had an income right now. I have decent savings but won’t buy stuff that’s over a certain amount without a Job right now. I found an Ecstasy I would love to get (decent price too) and a guitar or two on the ‘ol GC wishlist that tease me mercilessly.
Someone west of Atlanta give me a job so I can post new deal video clips!!

Last week I sold my MTL on Marketplace for $4100 shipped, my 2555X on Reverb for $1775 shipped, and E-II M1 on Reverb for $1050. Every one of them was the cheapest example available on said platforms, and I still broke even.
So many sellers either think they’re sitting on The Grail or they’re still trying to get these overinflated COVID hangover prices….

I’m below break even or at break even. I think a lot of it has to do with what’s in demand at the moment. I have no doubt everything will eventually sell but I’ll likely have to put it all on reverb first. I hate selling on that platform because I hate the 1099 tax BS I have to go through afterwards.

I sold an ESP Ltd JH-600EC and a Czarcie Kopyto double pedal just a couple of weeks ago to buyers in the US. They were priced reasonably and shipping was high since I'm in Singapore, but I think those were slightly more rare listings, so they were both snapped up within two days of listing each on Reverb. Heck, the guitar sold within 4 hours of listing.

I'm about to offload some myself.

I've already accepted that I need to keep the price very attractive to move gear. I'd rather take the hit then sit on forever. Knowing that someone gets a chance to enjoy like I did makes up for it. 🤟
