Friedman JEL50 watter released

its like every other friedman i hear, i dont have anything bad to say about it, but its just not that exciting either :dunno: i guess if i was in a cover band or something and needed one solid tone to do a bunch of rock covers it would be great

I want to like it and want to hear it once it hits the YouTube personality circuit. I have recently watched many videos on the 20 W version, and haven’f felt compelled to purchase one.

My least favorite amp is the JEL20 mini-stack I got. This amp must have been developed w/ guitars w/ humbuckers. It is not good w/ Strats, IMO. The cut, bite, harshness, is impossible to dial out.
Fool me once. Never again.

I was actually really digging that Jackson. I’m surprised how good the reverse HS looked with the LP body. Problem is, if they made it a production model the neck would be too skinny and the body probably wouldn’t be full thickness either.

Man, I gotta disagree here. I generally feel the same about Friedmans. Beautiful sounding amps but they're so perfect they're a bit boring (strictly my opinion). Too smooth and polished for my tastes. This one is raw, aggressive, percussive. It's not that far from a slightly modded 2204 in the best way possible. This is a keeper

The JEL sigs are the only Friedmans that I’ve really liked in demos. It’s like they took the blanket off the speakers that I usually hear in Friedman. Usually he does a neutered Marshall thing.

Sorry bros for not keeping up with the Friedman times but what was wrong with the 100w version with low power switch? What's different about this one?

Yeah, I’ve only had a chance to play the JEL20 and I thought it changed up a lot of what doesn’t quite excite me about the BE line. Nice and rough around the edges. But being a Gibson guy myself it sits pretty well, especially with greenbacks. I would still rock a Strat through it though. I bet it would do some pretty decent Gary Moore rock tones.
If I was picking a Friedman right now though it would be the Plex followed by the Little Sister. I played a Little Sister 1x12 combo recently that may be the perfect portable rock amp.

Sounds good. I always thought the Smallbox was what the DSL should have.
This seems the same, but just a hint more. I'd be interested in checking it out of I hadn't just picked up a killer SS. :)

I love my Friedman gear. It works for me just fine. That said:

The JEL 20s are going to be eight to $900 used within six months

Over saturation

I like the Marsha and the BE 100. Seems all his other amps are just minor variations on the same theme.
Missing that Marshall glassy chime when in gain channels that mid brittle sound.

And now for something completely different a JEL 50 watt. 🤷‍♂️
