Friedman JEL50 watter released

I thought those had bright caps. Doesn’t it have bright switches on it that choose between bright cap values?
This isn't a production model, it's a Friedman-modded Marshall; but, on production models, the BE/HBE channels do not have a bright cap. Just the Plexi channel. I just looked at the BE-100 Deluxe and only on the Plexi channel.

Everybody is welcome to their opinion and experience, obviously, but have you considered that the JEL50 and 100 models aren’t the same amp?

When I say the JEL50 is a low end monster, it’s not a comparative statement. This amp has a shit load of low end. Period. Being a bright amp has nothing to do with the amount of lows on tap. Those frequencies can be mutually exclusive on any amp so I guess I’m not really seeing what brightness has to do with low end.

That said, I said the reasons I liked it are mainly because of it being brighter and more raw/less refined than his other amps so I think we agree more than you realize.
So the 50 watter has more low end then the 100 watter?

What you type of with the BE/HBE tone exactly why Dave calls it brown.
I always custom ordered my Friedmans directly from Dave and have him customize it however I wanted.
You want more bite, tell Dave to add some fangs.
What’s surprising with Friedman, the older he gets, his amps seem to get darker where it’s usually the opposite, we lose the top end in our hearing with age more then bass frequencies.
Msybe he’s holding out for the super-killer’s.

Demos sound good :dunno:

I'm not really a fan of the BE series, or any of the other friedman amps. Too smooth, too refined, too geared for bedroom warriors with too much money instead of gigging musicians, lol

But this seems to have more rawness and life to it at least from the clips? i've never played the old 100w JEL to compare it to, but it sounds like an 800 or 2203 to me. So, it sound good.
