Saw Badlands on the “Voodoo Highway” tour, in Sacramento, at the venerable Boardwalk. Jake played through 2 red, full Marshall stacks. His onstage volume was insanely loud. And it sounded fantastic.
great song and tones!
lol , there was talk about it here years ago and on the now defunct Jake E Lee fan pageNow that you've revealed this, that pedal's price is gonna skyrocket in Reverb.
Can confirm as well. Saw Badlands on their first tour, Enuff ZNuff was opening. Jake was stupid loud. Not good loud but stupid loud. So loud I left the front and finished their set from the back. Couple times Singer and Jake were mouthing at each other, something was up so wasn't a surprise Singer was fired.I got right up from for this gig and I can confirm he likes to play loud
Probably the loudest show I have ever been at.. Badlands at Toads. I saw him with Red Dragon Cartel a few years ago - he is still loud, but not AS loud..Listen to how loud he is........................Friedman says he likes playing loud...............................
I saw them in CLE on the same tour. It was killer, and loud AF. Note the lack of mics on the cabs.I love the rehearsal video. Still can't believe that the small child was not blown off the stage walking in front of Jake's cabs.
Saw Red Dragon Cartel on the first tour in a pretty big room. Jake was using the 5150III 's then. Probably the loudest show I have ever been to.

Maybe it sounds way better into a JTM45 but it wasn't that great into any of my Marshall's.....It was alright... It wasn't like POOOOF...... that's the tone I hear on the first Badlands album and I was using my Jake guitar with an AH1 Holdsworth pickup wound by MJ in it and the SDS-1's in to my 72 SL, my 79 2203 and my 68 plexi and my trusty custom SD-1 was best by far, but as with anything YMMV.lol , there was talk about it here years ago and on the now defunct Jake E Lee fan page

I'm with you dude --It's amazing how everyone is always looking for some magic sauce or something!
As far as Eric Singer being fired the liner notes of the rock candy remasters for the debut album and Voodoo Highway shed a lot of light on all the drama that was going in on in that band from the very beginningCan confirm as well. As a side note, Derek Frigo stole that show with Enuff ZNuff, they sounded fantastic.
Yeah it didn't go into detail, maybe someone can chime in that might know the drama with Gillen, Jake and Singer. Regardless those two weren't happy with each other onstage the night I saw them. Maybe because Jake was playing so damn loud lol. Btw/ the night I saw them he had a backline of Orange Marshall cabs. Next time I saw him with WWIII he was all 5150 heads and cabs.As far as Eric Singer being fired the liner notes of the rock candy remasters for the debut album and Voodoo Highway shed a lot of light on all the drama that was going in on in that band from the very beginning
Yes!! I remember that! The guy had to run out to his car to get his bass as he had already loaded out. That is the show that I was at! Greg Chaisson's drop tuner broke towards the end of the show and he had to borrow the openers bass. The set list was heavy on Badlands tunes which was fine with me.
On the first Badlands tour he had a Marshall backline of Orange cabs. I wonder if he was just having stuff recovered.Saw Badlands on the “Voodoo Highway” tour, in Sacramento, at the venerable Boardwalk. Jake played through 2 red, full Marshall stacks. I remember the orange ones. Had a friend end up with one a few years after the tour.On the first Badlands tour he had a Marshall backline of Orange cabs. I wonder if he was just having stuff recovered.
He had orange Marshall cabs when I saw them and his leg was in a big brace/cast. Saw WWIII also. Six 5150 full stacks all cranked at the Alrosa….I had to leave he was so loud.Yeah it didn't go into detail, maybe someone can chime in that might know the drama with Gillen, Jake and Singer. YUP! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^totally.. Jake has shown and said this many times too... OD-1 into Plexi. Pick your Marshall, grab an SD-1 on the cheap. Giv'er. You need volume, you need the speakers, a JB and chops.
Skimming thru the booklets in the debut and Voodoo Highway now , there was all sorts of issues in this band right off the bat . Ray was insistent on the the manager of his choice or he was gonna leave the band , Eric and Ray were against Greg Chassion in the band from the beginning, Eric wanted the band to play the records company’s game with a more commercial sound . Ray started to complain to the record company that Voodoo Highway wasn’t sounding commercial enough, knowing this would most likely be his last album he wanted it to be memorable. They eventually fired Ray but brought him back due to his replacement wanting more money. Ray continued to talk trash about Jake in Kerrang magazine and from the stage in London.Yeah it didn't go into detail, maybe someone can chime in that might know the drama with Gillen, Jake and Singer.
