Redbacks in a 4x12?

I like them a lot, they're a nice alternative to a V30 for those that want something ballsier than an M magnet speaker. I don't think it sounds particularly dark:

Hm I remember the redbacks highs being more on the pleasant side. I actually find the H75 to sound annoying and never liked them. Agreed that the H75’s and Redbacks don’t sound remotely similar

They definitely can get too woofy, but found the mix with JBL’s helped balance that and also amps like the Hermansson’s, Hell Razor and 1972 SuperLead also balance it very well IME. I didn’t like it much with thick low mid amps like my Recto’s, Uber or Diezel’s

In your speaker comparo clips I think I actually remember liking the Redbacks most of the bunch, but would have to see again

When I first bought and installed mine, i thought there was something wrong with them. They had a harsh high end. I was disappointed because I played them at Matt's house and thought it was the perfect complement to my amp. Sounded damn good with wizards too.

I just beat the hell out of them with volume and they broke in pretty quickly and started to sound like they should. I havent tried the H75 by but have heard it is a badass speaker mixed with v30s.

Love this comparison. Kind of brings me back to a time when i have had these speakers. I just dont get calling the redback bland. It is so characterful. I think it just doesnt overwhelm any frequency. Just so forceful.

The v30 is a great speaker, but i tire of it alone.

The k100 has a clarity that really attracts a lot of people that like metal. But maybe its lack of character especially in the mids make it such a problem. You try to dial something in, but it resists and then you just have a really weird eq going through and it just feels hollow. But i think that is one good thing about mixing with the v 30. You get the mids from that to fill in the emptiness

Yeah. You dont have bad sounding cabs. I like the fanes a lot, too. I think you have everything covered no matter what amp you throw at it.
Out of curiosity, have you tried the ev12Ls?

This is probably the best clip I've heard of a Redback where it doesn't sound like someone draped a blanket across the speaker.

I played around with the audio from your video to sync the Redback to the other 3 speakers for an idea of how they'd blend together.
The V30 and T75 paired well with the Redback, but in different ways. RB/V30 complimented each other where the V30 took care of the grind and RB added girth/growl. It reminded me of my Grey wolf/Silver Wolf mix. The RB/T75 mix kept things more lower mid focus, and the T75 added highs to counteract some of the darkness from the RB. It was still decent but I didn't care for the RB/12K85 mix as much. It just didn't seem to have the right balance for me. Maybe too much in the low end that it's on the verge of flubby; I'm not sure.

From messing with that I don't think I'd like the Redback as a full quad. In a 112 or 212 I think it'd be fine, but might be too much in a 412. I think I'd like Redbacks paired with a complimentary speaker better. V30 or T75 seem to be a good place to start. I have it in my head that Classic Leads may pair well with Redbacks too.

I had a Marshall Mode Four with Redbacks. Good. Then I tried a combination of 2xRedback, 2xG12EVH and I liked it. But the Redback is so dominant and distinctive that I ended up with 1xRedback and 3xG12EVH and I'm happy. I probably wouldn't go back to 4x Redback.

I can see that. I loved the evh speakers. I feel like they would be drowned out with the redback, though. Redback is like a far more powerful version of that with killer fucking low mids

Yes. In this 3+1 combination, they complement each other very well. Redback partially dominates and EVHs complement what it lacks.

Four Redbacks sound great, but my favourite so far has been a Mesa 412 with a 16Ω Redback / V30 mix. It's punchier than an 8Ω setup.

This is with the smoother early 00's V30s - the more aggressively voiced ones were a bit too much in this arrangement.
