The IIC+reissue goes live Dec. 3rd. $3599

Metallica has to be the main reason most players here are aware of the C+

https://www.metallicagearhistory.com/post/mesa-boogie-crunchberries-amp

by the time they became known boogie guys, i had already been exposed to the IIB for 4 years and had formulated my own idea of boogie tone.
i made a recording in 82 of my buddy Zach playing that IIB combo with altec speaker and fetron preamp tube that i wish i still had because the tone was amazing.

it’s interesting how time alters perceptions of what your mind recalls regarding a tone being “brutal” and then hearing the actual recording

my preference for recorded C+ tones was Luke/Toto and Dream Theater

wonder whatever happened to Prince’s C+ Coli?

One of them ended up in a music store in Minneapolis. It had "Prince Rogers Nelson" written in sharpie written on the top of the chassis.

So lots of talking but who is pulling the trigger? I am very very tempted. I've never played one. My favorite channel on my MarkV:25 is the IIC+ so why not get the real thing.

Carlos Santana and the Charlie Daniels Band started the Boogie craze, not Metallica. Get for real.

False. It was Whitesnake as seen next to guitarist John Sykes below.

I concur. The in the room feel for a IIC+ is a big part of the experience. They are all so impossibly loud and pissed off. It's impossible to record or capture. Cranking a IIC+'s Master to 3 literally scrambles your brains with how loud it is. The Mark V, VII, JP2C and Badlander just does not have that intensity.
I think I hit 115dB 8ft away in my music room with my 60 watt IIC+ on 2.. so I can't even imagine what on 3 must be like.

I've owned multiple IIC+'s and have had friends bring their IIC+'s over. Every single IIC+ sounded different from another, even the same wattage. Sixty Watts (SRG) sounded different from each other. Hundred Watts (HRG) sounded vastly different from each other. Never had a chance to pit two DRG's against each other, but I'm sure they would sound different too. It's a weird experience. My sixty watt sounded worse then a buddies sixty watt. My hundred watt sounded way better than a different buddies hundred watt. Had a studio preamp + modded too which sounded similar, but different. If they managed to create a true reissue, it wouldn't matter what anyone's comparison is.. They would all sound different, even swapping tubes to make them the same.

I kind of hate people who buy multiple amps of the same model, they are hard to get and they cost around 10k euros (15-20 for Coli) and one person can end up with 5 or more. That's why I'm glad the reissue is coming. At least collectors can breathe a sigh of relief that they didn't take away someone's chance to touch a legend. If there were no reissue, I would write to such people - Let others enjoy it, you already have one.

I bought my amps before the craze for them. Nobody wanted these until recently.
  • I paid $3300+/- in 2021 for an SRG IIC+ that I later had to get a new head shell as well as servicing and re-capping at Mesa. $300-400 for a new head shell and another $400+/- for servicing, $200-300 shipping. - I made a cool $1000 when selling this one.
  • I paid about $2650 for my H IIC, which I sent to Mesa to have the + Mod and a Graphic EQ which ran me about $1700+/- and $200-300 shipping and $300-400 on a new head shell. I lost money on this one because I hooked someone up on these forums.
  • My DRG IIC+ was the only one I didn't need anything on and it ran me $5000 in 2022. I broke even selling this one.
  • The other IIC+'s in the picture are a friends SG IIC+ and another friends HRG IIC+ & JP2C.
I never took away someone's chance at owning one.. In fact, douchebags in IIC+ facebook groups actively sandbagged, deleted and hid my posts when I tried to sell my IIC+'s at reasonable prices. They like to shit talk me in those forums because I think they're out of their depths trying to sell SRGs for $12,000. I ran a website for cataloging and keeping information on all these amps, but people were ungrateful and it was too expensive to run.

Don't take my words personally, I was talking about other people. And in fact, on your previous picture was not only IIC+. Your picture just reminded me of those people who have many of the same amplifier. You know, it sucks to hear that people hate you for your prices, people should respect you for this decision. Imagine their frustration if they are already asking in the comments on YouTube - "What will happen to my 10k amplifier after the release of this reissue, will it really go down in price"? It's hilarious. I know a guy on YT named Tony Batal got a lot of hate for his tone on the forums and he made a video of his beautiful and chuggy tone mixed up with those comments. People have forgotten how to be happy for others. I envy, but I don't hate someone just because he has a cool tone. Good amp you have on these pictures by the way.

I’m torn between a IIC+ reissue and a JP2C. I’m not trying to compare them to a real IIC+. I just love my mark III so much that I want something to compliment it.

I've never played a JPC2, but the Crunch channel on both my Mark IV & V just fell flat for me. The V's Crunch was better, but even then, if I'm going for lower gain or British tones it's much more satisfying to just play a Marshall. Much less wimpy. This is why I'm interested in the IIC+. It's a no-bullshit Mark with Clean and Lead. None of the lesser junk in-between that just feel like lesser versions of the Lead channel.

A pedal in front of the Mark V 90W on channel 2 Crunch really makes it come alive. I don’t own many pedals or experiment much. I use a SolidGoldFX Devil Drive and now I love that channel.

@SonVolt the IIC+ is really a 1.5 channel amp. Being able to toggle from a stellar clean to awesome lead isn't really possible unless you have the Petrucci Volume Mod. I know Mike B isn't entertaining that anymore due to the originality/collectibility of these amps and it isn't his favorite mod to do.

I hear you loud and clear about the IV and V. The crunch channels were never stellar. Recently I've been on a Marshall kick [YJM100, JCM 800 2204 (82) & JMP 2203 (81)]. Those amps are great for crunch, but are only 1 channel amps. With a good boost, they sound killer.

In my personal experience, too much channel switching or additional circuits within a design tend to not sound as great as simple 1 channel amps. There's really no need for a multi channel amp, unless you're a gigging musician who only uses tube amps, don't want to spend away your kid's college tuition, or just want 1 amp that kinda does it all.

Aren't you mixing up Tony Batal and Reza?

I kinda felt the logical thing to do for the wallet was a used JP2C, but I’m not a logical person haha
