It varies a lot. You're better off trying out a bunch.
My LTD EC-400VF is like 9-10 pounds. Don't know exactly, but it's heavy. But I also had a non-FT EC-401 at some point which was abnormally light. Must have been like 6 pounds. I mention that one because it was a standout LTD I've owned both...
My EC-1000 was also Deluxe, but didn't have the abalone purfling.
TBH, I didn't change the hardware because I thought it was bad, but because it was that black nickel hardware that wears off really easily if you don't wipe it down after every use, and it was a used guitar when I got it.
But...
Also, in my experience, I prefer 400 series over 1000 series LTD's any day of the week.
I don't feel any quality difference between the 400 and 1000 series, granted both are Korean, and I'm not a fan of the zinc Tonepros bridge they put on the 1000 series. I'd rather upgrade the cheapie bridge...
FWIW, the Traditional cab I find is actually boomier than the Recto cab, personally. At least under the mic. The Recto cab pushes the low-end further down the spectrum where it's nice and weighty. The Traditional has more stuffy low mids that I feel boom a bit more and are cloudier with most...
I 100% agree. Even the DV-77's that everyone raves about has the blanket thing going on in the highs and has a hint of the phasey mids Eminences normally have.
I honestly cannot explain how they got anything usable out of those P50E's on The End of Heartache, though. I know they're blended with...
I agree about Eminence speakers.
Even the better ones that sound decent in the room mic up horribly. By trying to "fix" the harshness on their Celestion-inspired models, they almost always end up sounding so dark and distant under a mic. Like they were mic'd up across a wall. And many, if not...
FWIW, I prefer Greenbacks over Vintage 30's in the room.
In the room, I also prefer Marshal Vintages over the other Vintage 30's.
But mic'd up, Mesa V30's are kinda that sound.
I don't like Eminence speakers in general. It's hard to find models that don't have that ugly thing goin in the...
Is DiMarzio a smaller company than Seymour Duncan?
I tend to like DiMarzio neck pickups and Duncan bridge pickups.
I think the Super Distortion is an iconic pickup worth giving a try. It was the first aftermarket pickup I ever tried. I remember liking it, but that must have been like 20 years...
I think most people aim for the As Daylight Dies or The End of Heartache tone. And I love those, but my favorite is Shadows Are Security because it almost sounds like something that would've sounded right at home on either an old In Flames or a newer At the Gates record. :D
I hate Alyssa. She tries so hard. She's like what someone who doesn't listen to Metal thinks a Metal singer is like.
Arch Enemy has never been about the vocals, anyway, but I feel they sound more and more uninspired as time goes on.
I think the Aldrich is actually smoother than the JB, though. I want hotter and more aggressive. I'm thinking of just swapping the magnet on the JB to Ceramic, but since it's a covered pickup, I think it may just be more trouble than it's worth.
Great info. Thank you.
I guess I should be looking at the H3+, then, rather.
The guitar I have right now has a JB in the bridge which I kinda like, but I wished it was hotter and more attacky.
I've been looking into these for a while. I've got a new guitar with a Duncan JB in the bridge which I like, but I don't love, and I kinda want to swap it out. These look cool with the oversized polepieces. But what are they like?
I've read they're a little dark and that they get along better...
I like the LPS in the
Yeah, the LPS is certainly not a V1 tube, IMO. In V1, it tends to be micrphonic because of the long plates, and its clean characteristics tend to get lost if you use it in a distorted channel.
I like the LPS in the PI position, but I do think there its qualities are...
I like it. It's not the best Opeth song I've ever heard, but it's very promising. I'm glad Mikael's growling again.
That being said, I'm not sure if it's the mix (I think it is), but his growls certainly don't sound as powerful as they used to.
